I am afraid that you are unable to activate your Windows 10 key without a product key. You can just order one from the online site http://www.MicrosoftStoreinc.com cooperated with Microsoft. All the product keys are legitimate and official. Then just activate your Windows 10 key with the purchased product key. The activation process is simple and easy to operate.

Hello,

Your license is still valid but you have to call Microsoft ( 1-800-805-4440) and provide them your product id so that they can generate the a new windows XP key for you or may be they will offer you Windows 7. Anyhow, you do not have to buy a new Windows XP key.

I want to completly remove Windows and repl,ace it with Win XP Pro

If you have a valid copy of xp pro, then just insert the disk and boot from it when asked. when you are asked about an install, choose a clean or new install and everything will be erased and you will start over. Be advised that you will need to get the lifebook drivers burned to a disk before you start.

Windows xp not activating after crash and system failure. it says that my cd is no longer valid. entered both ways to try code to activate but it isn't. I have the origional xp pro disk i got with the...

You may need to call Microsoft and tell them your doing a reinstall and the activation is being rejected. As long as you have the original product key they'll set you up with a new activation key. I had to do this myself and found MS tech staff to be preety responsive. You can get the tech support toll free phone # from the MS site.

How can I reboot a Compaq Presario 686S1. It has a Windows 98 Sticker on it, and when it starts up it has Win xp pro. sp1. it won't dowload the updates, and it says the product key is not valid.

Dear sir,
There is nothing wrong with a newer version of windows installed in your PC. the Latest the Better.. But if you still want Win 98 on your system, just have reinstalled... The serial key you want is written on the back of the CD you get with the system
Thanx

Will not run xp pro i'm stuck in 2000 mode mother board is ak77 pro 133 vt8233 will not run xp pro i've been told im pretty much sol. Is this true?

If you have a valid Win XP Pro CD and want to install the operating system you'll need to format your hard disk drive. If you have allot of data on you're hard disk drive, (In Win 2000) Suggest you create a second partition within the free space of you're hdd and install windows XP Pro. Boot you're system with the XP CD. Pay close attention to the display screens. Follow the instructions for creating a second partition.
Format the new partition. (Quick). Install windows XP on the new partition. Once completed you can copy your personal data to win XP.
If you choose to keep the win 2000 partition and you do not wish to have a dual boot system than remove/delete the root files from the 2000 partition. These files; Autoexec.bat and Boot.ini. You're new XP Boot.ini should read like this;
[boot loader]
timeout=30
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /noexecute=optin /fastdetect /usepmtimer
Once you're satisfied an no longer need win 2000 use windows diskmgmt.msc from the run command to delete the win 2000 partition.
Win 2000 uses a FAT16 where Win XP uses the FAT NTFS.

Cheers!

Dell XPS M1210 broken

I'm thinking you might be having a hard drive problem or the file structure is really messed up.
You had Win 7 and tried to install Win XP. Now it is confused, no doubt.
Here's the first thing I would do:
Put in your Win XP disk and boot from it.
At the first question it asks (about repair or install) choose repair.
It will then ask you which Windows Installation--choose #1 if it's there.
Hit enter if it asks for your password.
Now at the command prompt, type chkdsk /?
Depending on your version of XP, it will show you the switches you can use. Use the one that checks the entire drive. Might be chkdsk /P or maybe /F
Anyway, use the one that does the whole drive and let it run. Then try your reinstall unless you have file problems that aren't fixed.
BTW--your Dell should have a utilities option if you hit F12 at startup that will allow you to check your hard drive.

Task manager in win xp keeps blinking, it will not closed, no matter what i push nothing, plus win xp keep freezing any solution how to fix this problem

VIrus infection?

to check and secure u need:

win-xp cd or other bootable win-cd, seperate up-to-date antivir software on cd or usb-stick,
your passwords

procedures:

boot system from cd/dvd (do not bother if screen resolution is different from usually),
exit windows-setup,

insert antivir-cd or stick, run full system scan.
found infections? remove/erase these files(antivir will do that for you)
if possible, back-up personal data (my folder, music, save games, etc.)
this data has to virchecked by another protected system before reinstallation !

boot from win-xp cd-rom, run setup until repair options are available,
repair your xp on harddisk(xp-will do that mostly), exit setup without installing win xp anew

boot system from hd, ignore error messages, run vircheck again.

if you're lucky, this will do, else lemmie know

Hard drive crash

The guy that told you it would only cost $40 is not telling the truth. Windows XP runs around $125.00. If you download an operating system from the web, Microsoft can see that your copy of Windows is not valid and disable your system from a remote server. I recommend buying Win XP from Best Buy. It is currently on sale until Jun 26, 08 for $99.99.
