I have a frigidaire ceramic cooktop. It started making a "popping noise" and there was a burned smell, but the stove was not on. I had to turn off the breaker to stop this.

If it is the fan under a ceramic flat top, no, because its purpose is to keep the control boards cool.

If it is the oven fan, yes no problem.

I see that your Frigidaire stove is not working but the broil light is on. I would suggest disconnecting power from it for at least ten minutes this is how to perform a factory reset. The factory reset may help clear out any miscommunication within the range and allow it to continue to operate properly. on most, your push down and turn to hi to open gas valve and turn on piezio to light burner. it sounds like you have a knob already turned on . the control under the knob may need replacing. kinda an easy replacement if you get new part. check out repairclinic.com for video(maybe) but for parts for sure. be careful. gas is explosive.

That is an obvious burned wire, or burned thermal cutoff etc

Your radiant heat element is probably blown. Call kitchenaid for information and replacement part numbers then search online for a good price.

if you Heard or seen this poping you probably have shorted out the ignitor mechanism You can try unplugginh the stove and removing the part and inspecting it and see if it can be cleaned and doubkle check the wiring to see ithatthey are not greasy or there is any buiold up on the wires then reinsert the part and see if it will work now but if not you will have to replave the ignitor ok
If you have a local appliance repair center you should be able to get the part from there if not go online and go to www.repair clinic.com youcan order it from them ok

I would say that pop was one of you igniters.  either that or the stove is not installed correctly and when it gets warm, thermal expansion makes the metal pop.  I would say that I would use caution and discontinue its use.  Most problems with these need to fixed professionally.

it sounds as if the thermostat is broke. it could be the two wires off the thermostat are after melting together. ( burning smell). the thermostat stops power going to fan when it sences below a certain degrees. but your one has been cut out of the circuit due to the two cables melting together. this means fan will constantly stay on. you need to find and replace thermostat and make sure no cables melted together. if they are then seperate and use insulating tape to re insulate.make sure circuit breaker is off while doind this

Check the power plug is their any separate plug on it / if none check the control panel some switch to power on .
