Well, sounds like common error promblem have you tried looking and seeing if mite have bought the wrong kind of dvd's I have done this before i bought dvd's instead of Cdrw's discs.? or try dowloading www.slysoft.com thier cd player plays and reads and rewrites almost anything .. lala linda

I found out that something must be wrong with the blank Memorex DVD +R's that I purchased. I tried a different brand name and it works fine. I'll try to return the DVD's and get another name brand. Thanks for your help.
I have a similar problem. I've tried various makes of cd & dvd all of which have previously been ok. Now when I insert a disc I'm asked to format it then told that its Read Only - help
My Fujitsu Siemens notebook has a NEC ND-6650A DVD Writer. It can not recognize most of the dvds and mistakes it for a cd. Sometimes it damages the dvd when spinning.

I have a 24/24 Speed NEC DVD+/-RW ND-6650A in a Dell Lattitude D610. It reads CDs OK, but when I put in any commercial DVD, it loads identifies it has a SDVD title, but won't play as it identifies it as a CD.
Any help apppreciated.
