Instal ocr on my computer - Lexmark X1270 All-In-One InkJet Printer

ORC is life form in the Lord of The Rings. What you want is OCR which stands for Optical Character Recognition. It is the software that converts a scanned document into a string of characters that you can edit to correct OCR errors.
To be able to scan to a computer the computer and the printer must be connected through a USB port or be part of the same network.
When you press the scan button, the printer tries to communicate with the computer and launch the scanning software installed on the computer.
Install the software that shipped with your printer, connect the computer and the printer. If everything is correctly connected and installed, the scanning software will open to receive the scanned document.

To scan documents for editing and saving as PDF file, you will need to install the Lexmark OCR scan software on your computer. The Lexmark scan software (no downloadable version) is only available on the installation disc that came with your printer. If you lost the disc, please contact Lexmark Technical Support Center for assistance.

To install the OCR scan software from the printer installation CD:

1. Insert CD into the CD-ROM drive. If the installation screen open, click Cancel.
2. Double-click on My Computer / Computer.
3. Right-click on Lexmark XXXX CD and select Open.
4. Double-click on OCR.
5. Double-click on Setup.exe to install the OCR software. Your operating system will then determine the language in which it is installed.

Try this approach:1. Uninstall your existing printer driver. On your computer, go to Start menu > Programs > Lexmark X5600 Series folder > Tools > Uninstall. After the uninstall process, reboot your pc when prompted.2. When your pc turns on, check if your Windows 7 is running on 32-bit or 64-bit operating system. On your computer, go to Start menu > right-click on Computer > click on Properties. Take note of the System Type.3. Use the link below to download and re-install the corresponding printer driver for your operating system:- Lexmark X5650 Printer Driver for Windows 7 32-bit- Lexmark X5650 Printer Driver for Windows 7 64-bitSimply follow the instructions on your computer screen to complete the installation.4. To re-install the Lexmark OCR scan software, insert the printer software installation CD in your pc CD-ROM drive.5. Then try to create a PDF or Scan and Edit text (OCR) to verify that the problem is fixed.

The function to do OCR scanning will be part of whatever scanning software you are using with this printer. Probably some scanning software came with the printer. If it doesn't have OCR capability , you'll have to use some third-party software. Just Google OCR software.

The Lexmark OCR scan software is available in the installation disk that came with the printer. You can explore the installation disk and look for the Abby setup application in the OCR folder (for Windows). For Mac OS, right-click on the Install icon and choose Show Package Contents. Open Contents folder > open Package folder and manually install the Abby Finereader application.

Without CD you can't install OCR or Optical character recognition software because OCR function is not installed in scanner but in computer. Usually when you buy new scanner you get CD or DVD with drivers and some lite version of OCR and some other programs for graphic editing.

according to what I read on the C450 biz hub, in order to do OCR you need to use the option that scans to SMB, that sends the scanned documents to your computer on the network. You can then process the documents on your computer with the OCR software program so you can edit the finished documents. I did not see anything that indicated the Bizhub had OCR software capabilities built into the unit. Regards, rcampsr
