I don't get any picture from my system to my TV?

Speaking from experience it's a bad idea. Don't bother, just get a new TV.

If they are cheap here in USA now they should be even cheaper in Dubai.

Sony sets will have good picture quality. There is no doubt about it. Check your picture settings. Download the user manual to this set, and refer it. Make sure that all picture settings are correct.

check that ur video input on the tv is set correctly. you can do this by turning on ur theater system first , when u get ur sound grab the tv remote and select the tv input button or if u don't have said button try thr tv/video button untill u get a picture. ( this of course a suring that ur video cable is connected ) hope that helps

The TV is obsolete now.

You could go to Best buy and get a digital tuner.

I got one. Actually worth it. Perfect picture, but its like letterboxed.

You could subscribe to Basic cable.

I'm finding it strange that this far into the situation, that people don't understand
that their tuners are useless now.

I'd say DTV. also u could check if TV mode is PAL, US system(NTSC) or Auto. default to AUTO if u don't know. hope this helps.

When it goes black can you see a ghost image? It will be a normal tv picture but very faint black and white looking, you may have to get close and look at an angle to even see it. If so that means your backlight system is failing. If you don;t see an image then it is a problem with the power section of the board inside the tv.

Check if it is covered by warrenty and get a quote if it isn't. A 42 inch is new and big enough that it should still be worth repairing but it may cost you anywhere from $100 to $250 depending on the shop to fix.

Adjust the Aspect ratio. The manual will tell you how.

You should set the resolution to 800 x 600 or 1024 x 768. This will give you a picture. Once you have a picture on your TV you can then set it to the native resolution of your TV. i.e. 720p will be 1280 x 720 or 1368 x 768. 1080p will be 1920 x 1080.
