I have a brand new whirlpool DU1055XTV5 dishwasher, installed two days ago. After the cycle completes there is about 1/2" clean standing water left in the bottom. It is not just down in the well area, the whole bottom is covered with water. This is after running a normal cycle with no other options such as sanitize or heat dry. I called Lowes, the store that sold/installed it, and they said this is normal in new dishwashers to keep the parts wet. They said as long as the water does reach the heating coil (it doesn't) then everything is ok. I find this very odd and would like to know if this amount of remaining water is really ok. Can anyone help me?

Have installer come back to you, sounds like a pump problem, blockage, timer, ...is outlet hose kinked at all? It usually goes into the kitchen sink drain below.

SOURCE: whirlpool dishwasher stopped working...

It sounds like the thermal fuse in the control console has blown.
Turn power off to unit.
Remove the outer door panel and then the console.
Remove the black plastic cover from over the circuit board if it has one.
You should see the thermal fuse clipped to the circuit board housing.
If you have an ohm meter, check for continuity across it, it should read closed.
If you don't have a meter, unplug the wires from it and and hook them together.
Turn power back on to unit, hold door switches down and cancel cycle. The washer should drain the water.
If this doesn't work, check your door switches to make sure they are closing properly.

Are you making sure your heater is ok??Water temp should be taken and be 120 or hotter. If its not turn up water heater temperature. If heating coil is not working replace it.It provides the heat to the D/W and aids in the heated Dry cycle. The solution for spotted/foggy glass problems all  start with making sure your water is Hot enough.Rinse aid is the second.

SOURCE: Dishwasher leaves film, smelly water

You need to use something with citric acid too try and clean out the calcium deposits inside dishwasher, you can get cleaner at the store or run a can of frozen orange juice thru it or a small bottle of apple cider vinegar. Do this with no dishes inside.

SOURCE: Stays in wash cycle Whirlpool Dishwasher Du1050SS

my repairman contacted whirlpool about my washing machine staying on
wash.. to his surprise.. and mine.. and his co=workers.. this is the answer,
it worked.. and we have never heard this before.

In your original istallation booklet it tells you to let the dishwasher run til its complete
the first time you use it as it may rinse twice... my original installation man told me this also.

however.. if you suffer a "blip" in your electricity.. it could put the little dishwasher "brain"
out of whack.. it can run as long as 3 to 4 hours on wash to reset itself.. if you stop it
(like others have mentioned.. and which I did also).. it doesn't complete the reset and it
will attempt to do it the next time..

answer?.. just let it go once as unnerving as this is.. it works.. They did mention that
if it went to 5 hours.. call your repairman because you need a new mechanism.

My dishwasher is left quite wet inside after washing dishes. Is this unusual, especially for an expensive Viking dishwasher that is brand new?

make sure you have selected the heated dry option. for the smell, add a 1/2 cup of white vinegar to wash cycle.

Whirlpool dishwasher is not fully draining after cycle complete

THE PROBLEM SOUNDS TO BE WITH THE INSTALLATION OF THE DISHWASHER ITSELF. YOU NEED TO MAKE SURE YOUR DRAIN HOSE IS NOT KINKED AND ALSO THAT THE DRAIN HOSE FORMS A LOOP. IN OTHER WORDS IT SHOULD GO STRAIGHT UP BEHIND THE UNIT AND THEN DOWN INTO THE SINK OR DISPOSAL.THIS SHOULD TAKE CARE OF YOUR PROBLEM.

the top spinner is just clipped on. if you look at it you will see the cut in the plastic and it will just pull off. clean out the spinner and in the hole use some pipe and blow down it. on first cycle it should empty the dirty water out.

Dishwasher has stopped partway through cycle, not pumped out

Not a moisture sensor, a water depth sensor to gauge fill level.  Not the problem here.  There is a solenoid valve under the machine.  It routes the water either to the wash arms or to the drain.  It is likely  jammed so that it will not open to drain the water.  Often, these items can be disassembled and cleaned.  Just shut the power before going in there.  If the valve can't be cleaned or the coil is bad, it will need replacement.
