error code 5100 means print head temperature rise error. In other word the print head is overheated. First,turn off your printer for some minutes (it recommended to take about 30 secs or more) and let it's cooled down. Turn on again. If the problem still persist,try to check whether the print head is good or not by comparing with another print head. Be carefully,sometimes this problem is caused by short circuitry inside the print head.
5100 is a carriage error. check the timing strip for contamination (plastic strip about 1/4" in width). Check for obstructions.

error 5100, this error appears and the problem is your cartridge, please double check your cartridge is connect properly and if it still have the errors change another cartridge, a new one...
I had this problem and solved it = ) You turn off the fax, take the paper out, then open the cover just after you turn it back on. Leave it open for a minute and let the cartridge go back and forward close the cover and wait till it tell you to press stop and it should be back to normal. Hope this helps
