My dryer was working fine one minute and then stopped heating to dry my clothes. I checked voltages all the way down to the heating element and have 134 volts across the heating element but it is not getting even warm. Is there anywhere else I should be looking?

Check ventilation going out of house and inside dryer itself. If either is stopped up, clothes won't dry properly. If venting and dryer is completely clear, things I would check would be proper voltage going to dryer, heating element, thermal cutoff and high limit thermostat, operating thermostat, timer, and motor in that order.
Note: Normal drying time for a dryer
is about 45 minutes (some may take up to an hour).
1. Venting
Make sure the dryer vent hose, as well as the rest of the vent duct,
is not clogged.
Unless regular maintenance is performed, chances are there is a lot
of lint accumulated inside the dryer. This might affect the drying
time and could be a fire hazard. Make sure to have your dryer
cleaned regularly. Because this might involve taking most of the
dryer apart, it is recommended to have a qualified appliance
repairman perform this task.
2. Thermostat
There are a couple of cycling thermostats inside the dryer. If one
of them breaks down, it might affect the dryer's performance.
Replace the defective thermostat.
3. Heating element
A heating element might only be partially burned out, in which case
it would still work but will take longer time to dry the clothes.
Replace the element if found defective.
your dryer has a safety feature that it will not run or heat when the door is opened. It is so no gas fumes are exhauseted into your home. Once the safety is engaged, It will not allow the dryer to restart for a short while. It should clear itself after only a few minutes. Hope this helps, good luck.
Hi,
If you are having problems with your gas dryer not heatingthe most common problem is that the ignitor goes bad. Even though it glowssometimes it is still not working properly.
if you dryer is gas check out this gas no heat tip....
If you have an electric dryer, you can have many differentthings that can go wrong causing the dryer not to heat.
check out this electric no heat tip...
If this is a gas dryer, I'd suggest an inspection by the gas company or qualified technician. If the jets aren't firing correctly, you are wasting gas and possibly creating a hazard.
Q - My gas dryer will not heat, what could stop my dryer from heating? A - Things that could stop a gas dryer from heating: - glow bar igniter, thermal fuse ( not all models ), coils on the gas valve, gas valve, thermostats, motor heat switch, timer, selector switch, sensor. A page for checking gas dryers is here.
this is joyce
It is as you guessed your sensor. it is usually located in door but some models are in back of machine on inside, go online download document papers go to maytag.com put in model# and then download your model # and it will show you where your sensor is located, it should be simple to replace. I had the same problem with my dryer.
I am glad you said you checked the dryer lines because if these get clogged up they will cause the dryer not to dry the clothes correctley. very smart....if you need me to help let me know.
