My Dyson was working fine and then all of a sudden I can't put it in the upright position. It doesn't go flat on the floor either so the beater bar isn't hitting the floor and it won't pick up. It is stuck in a horizontal position.

To recline your DC33 into the normal vacuuming position, place one foot on the cleaner held and recline the main body. After use, just stand the vacuum upright and it will lock in position until you recline it again.

If you are indicating that it works, but will not stay in an upright position, then the problem is likely a plastic part has broken.
Since the machine is nearly all plastic, it will break rather easily, and may not be repairable.
You might try to look up the Dyson company on your computer and see if they have a phone number to talk to them, but if it is made in China, there may be no spare parts available.
God bless your efforts.
DC25 doesn't have a reset button - if the brushbar isn't rotating, please follow the steps shown in the video below to check the cleaner head and brushbar for obstructions, then reset the machine.
Please note, the brushbar will never rotate when the machine is standing upright, so make sure you recline your DC25 into the vacuuming position before testing it.

I'm sorry to hear you're having difficulty with your DC17. If the machine shuts off when standing in the upright position, it may be overheating due to a blockage in the wand, hose or U-bend. The easiest way to check for and remove any blockages is to follow the steps shown in our online support guide:
It's also a good idea to give the filter a wash - in normal use this should be done at least once every 3-6 months, as shown in the video below. Use cold water without detergent, and allow at least 24 hours for it to dry completely before replacing it.

The brush control is designed to switch the brush bar off automatically when you stand the machine back into the upright position. It is designed this way to protect any delicate floor surfaces when you have the machine switched on and upright and when you are using the hose.
If the brush control should be in the centre position and move forward to the "on" position when you release the head. If it is not doing this, please contact our Helpline on 0800 298 0298 (UK) or 1866MYDYSON (US).

Turn the vacum on it's side. Look on the side that has Bare floor/carpet control. There is a hose with two yellow buttons. Detach the hose. On the square side, look for a black button. Depress the button, then release. On the square side, slide the square up until it locks in place.
