I just purchased and installed a Minn Kota 70 PD V2/AP 60" - 24 volt trolling motor. Whenever I apply the "gas pedal", whether by foot pedal (moment or constant), co-pilot, or auto pilot, the thrust motor cycles on and off, on & off, etc, never reaching a full speed or constant running mode. The left/right steering works just fine. I have checked all of the wiring, plugs, etc and found nothing which effects the issue. The unit is brand new. The co-pilot is from my previous motor which got broken. 970 375-4818 Office 907 903-3880 Cell Thanks!

If brand new and not working properly, take it back and exchange it for one that works!

SOURCE: Minn Kota 54lb hooked up backwards (Pos. to Neg) wont work

Unfortunately, those units have a circut board at the power source and if there is no fuse you more than likely destroyed that board. Take the casing apart (the part attached to the boat) it should be two halves. That inital board you see is probably what is destroyed. Of course before i did that I would look for an inline fuse near where the cables attach to the battery or under the unit in the nose of the boat. There is nearly always a fuse if it came from the factory or dealership with the unit so i'd play a little extra hide and go seek for that before doing anything else.

Best of Luck

My trolling motor- 2007 70# Minnkota Powerdrive V2 seems to lose track of where it's at. I replaced both control boards and it still wanders off.

If you have already replaced the control boards and the trolling motor still seems to lose track of its location, there are a few other things you can check:
  1. The propeller may be damaged or bent, causing it to steer off course. Inspect the propeller for any visible damage and replace it if necessary.
  2. The motor's GPS sensor may not be functioning properly. Check to make sure the sensor is clean and free of debris. You can also try recalibrating the sensor according to the manufacturer's instructions.
  3. The wiring connections may be loose or corroded, causing intermittent power to the motor. Check all wiring connections for tightness and signs of corrosion, and clean or replace as necessary.
  4. The foot pedal or remote control may be malfunctioning, causing the motor to steer off course. Check the foot pedal or remote control for any damage or loose connections, and replace or repair as necessary.
If none of these steps resolve the issue, you may need to take your trolling motor to a professional repair shop for further diagnosis and repair.

On a Minn Kota All Terrain trolling motor, what should the MOM/OFF/CON switch be set to when using the foot pedal manually?

You should only use the MOM (or momentary) setting when using the push button the foot pedal. Con will just keep the motor running and your foot control will only allow for direction and speed!

You need your serial number of the trolling motor, length of shaft, and thrust poundage.

or you could call Minn Kota direct and give them the same information at 800-227-6433.
