I had to take the oven tempered door glass out to clean it from the years of build up. Where does the rope gasket go? I think it was in between the glass and the inside door metal shield. Can the rope gasket be glued to stay in place while the door is reassembled? Does the door completely pull out of the range? It's hard to work on attached to the range.

foil was just protective heat tape, there is a track across the bottom of door that is holding it up,

SOURCE: Is the glass surface on my GE Spectra solid surface glued to the heat element frame ?

The exterior panel (stainless in my case) is "glued" by adhesive to a lower metal piece which attaches to the door. I know this because my front panel came unglued and there is no other means of support. I am buying a very expensive new front panel.

try using a ceramic hob cleaner to get it off

take a profile of the glass shape (cut out the shape from cardboard) and go to a glass supply shop ( glass windows , doors , shower screens etc)
they should be able to cut and then temper the glass to make it heat proof for the door
if they cannot temper it they should be able to tell you where you can get it done

I JUST WANT TO REMOVE THE OVEN DOOR TO CLEAN THE INTERIOR SURFACE OF THE DOOR GLASS
If you mean between the inner and outer panes of glass; you will regret it. It's likely that both are mounted with a fragile heat-proof mineral (non-asbestos) gasket material that may crumble once the panes expose it.

I would like to clean in between the windows on the dooes of the oven. We have a kitchen aid superba double oven
You will have to dissassemble the door to clean between the glass. You may need to replace the gasket material when you do. It can be done but care will need to be taken during dissassembly, marking parts, so that during reassembly the unit will function correctly and not leak heat or cause the tempered glass to break. Replace inner oven door glass on kitchenaid wall oven
To replace the door glass do the following:

0 Check if there is a hinge stop bracket located at the hinge point of entry on the oven, in that case remove it.
1 remove the oven door by pulling it up and removing from the the hinges. If glass is broken , then secure glass with tape. Have a table with a cloth on top ready to lay the door.
2 Remove the outer screws , starting from lower side of the panel.
3Removethe inner screws. Keep all set of screws ordered, and take note of theorder you remove them. You will follow reverse order in reassembly.
4 the frame will be free now,
5 Remove the external glass panel and leave it in a safe place.
6 Replace the inner glass.
7 Clean outer glass and metal door, re-assemble it and mount it back

"I removed the oven door by lifting it off with the hinges. Disassembled the door parts one at time making sure I remember where I removed the screws until I am able to get to the broken glass. The most difficult part is making sure that the insulation strip & the gasket stayed in place after I replaced the broken glass & doing the reverse process of installing the parts together. Relatively easy process as long as you remember where the parts go. When in doubt, I had to refer to the pictorial of the disassembled door shown on your website. "

Need to install a new inner seal on the oven door.
the rope type seal merely is friction pressed against the inner glass and the inner panel, no real fasteners other then that,the fact that you got stains inbetweeen glass not neccessarliy a sign ofbad seal, it happpens, in order to replace the gasket, youll need to completly dis-assemble th oven door , as you do you can clean the glass panes as you go

TKC 8522/2 top oven outer door shattering
It is not a fault with the door, and this sort of event occurs quite often, so is not uncommon.
All sorts of things can cause this, sudden change in temp, getting the glass wet whilst it is still hot, a knock or bang form an earlier time could have weakened the glass.
The list is quite long..
Depending on your household insurance, some policys cover for breakage of glass fittings, would be worth checking.

Clean Oven Door Glass
To remove oven door:
 1. The oven door is held to the oven door hinges by two
screws. (One in each hinge.)
2. To remove the oven door remove the two screws.

 3. Close the door to the broil stop position and lift up.
then remove the door handle and take out all the screws around the edges of the door and pull the out side cover from the inner but a word of caution there are about three or 4 pieces of glass they are tempered and about 100 bucks a piece and most times they wont get real clean and will get messy again
