Hi,
Welcome to FixYa! The problem that you have is about the Operating system and there are two ways of fixing the problem which is by using the Recovery Disc or using the One Key Recovery Button. Please follow the steps below for you to be able to fix the problem. If everything is done and its still the same, most probably, the problem is with the Harddrive.
For One Key Recovery:
1. Turn off the computer.

2. Press the little button near the power button, it usually do have a drawing of an icon that looks like a horse shoe or a headset.

3. There will be a window that will appear which do have three option, One Key Antivirus, One Key Recovery and System Setup. Choose One key Recovery.

4. There will be another window that will appear which do have two option, Restore from initial backup and Restore from user backup,Choose Restore from initial back up

5. It will asked you if you want to continue, Just click on OK or YES.

6. Once done, Reboot the computer.

For Recovery Disc,

1. Insert the disc inside the drive.

2. Turn off the computer then turn it back on and keep on tapping F12

3. There will a window that will appear which do have three options, HDD,ODD/DVD/CD, and NAT, choose ODD/DVD/CD

4. It will asked you to press any key immediately, you will need to press any key immediately so that it will boot from ODD.

5. It will asked you to choose a partition, choose Disc 0 partition 1

6. Reboot computer once done.

I hope this information will be helpful. Thank you for using FixYa...

Hi sroger1,

If the OKR or One Key Recovey failed your option is to use a Recovery Disk of your Laptop you can request a Recovery Disk by calling Lenovo Hotline. It will be shipped to a US, Australia and New Zeland address. If you purchase your machine from a different country you need to ask the seller for a copy of the recovery disk.

Lenovo Tech Support Hotline: 1877-453-6686 or 1877-4LENOVO

Welcome to Fixya

Make sure first that there are no devices plug in to the usb when you boot up the computer. Check if the harddrive is being detected by the computer. Press F2 to go to BIOS menu and see if the computer can detect you harddrive. It should be under the main menu and will say below harddrive. It should give you infromation of the harddrive. If there is no information of the harddrive then the problem there is the harddrive already.

Please reply to this email for any update.

I just want to use my one key recovery for y430 lenovo

Hi r_lakshmiraj,
I see that you want to use your One Ky Recovery on your Y430 machine.
  • First have your Laptop turned OFF
  • Once turned OFF press and hold down the One Key Recovery Button beside the power button, it should have an arrow icon arching to the left and hold it down for 5 seconds the Laptop should turn on.
  • You will see on the screen Windows is Loading Files, then Lenovo One Key Rescue system with a wallpaper of leaves in the background.
  • Once you see the screen it will give you options like One key anti virus, One Key Recovery and so on.
  • Click on One Key Recovery, then the next page click on the first option that says restore to initial backup or Restore back to factory defaults.
  • This will then give you a screen informing you that if you have data on the Hard drive that this will result to data loss once started, click on yes or next if you are decided to proceed, then click on start to begin the One Key recovery process.
Once everything is done you will get a screen informing you that it is done click on DONE then Reboot this will restart your computer like when you had it the very first time.
I hope that this will be of help regarding your concern.
Have a nice day.

The touchpad scrolling on my Lenovo Ideapad Y430 is not working. The system came with factory preinstalled Vista Home Premium. The scrolling was working when I bought the system but suddenly stopped...

Hi try looking to see if the driver is installed properly (start, control panel, mouse and double click on it. A box will pop up, click on the hardware tab and then on properties it will either say this device is working properly or if not will give you option to update driver, which you should do, let it find best driver for you when it asks. If that doesn't work then try clicking on the device settings tab instead of hardware tab, then click on settings then click on defaults and then click ok. This should one way or another make the touch pad scroll work again.
Contact me if you get stuck, or if this helps please rate me.
