JVC Everio: GZ-MG330

I have an iMac and cannot for the life of me transfer the movie files from the camcorder to the Mac, so as to be able to edit and cut a DVD.

I am able to get the files across into a folder, but they seem to have unusual extensions (e.g. PRG001.PG1; MOV04D.MOI; MOV04D.MOD etc). These files do not play back anything, so I cannot obviously do any editing or copying.

Please will someone help me? I am not very savvy on the Mac, so set-wise advice will be much appreciated.

Thanks.

Karl.

I have a similar problem. I just used my new JVC Everio 330 and I can't get my video to download to my iMac. I have a firewire cable but apparently it isn't the right one. Mine is a 1394 and the camcorder doesn't have the same size port as the cable.
Hooking up the USB cable from the camcorder to my computer opens a driver and I can open the folders but can't use anything in them.
If someone can help me figure out how to download my video to my Mac I would be very grateful.
Please email me at: [email protected]

    Thank you in advance

Try this link and see if it helps

I have a feeling JVC doesn't link putting their software for their products on their website. You might have to contact their tech support to get a replacement CD.

Using iMovie '08

  1. With your camera turned off and plugged into wall power, plug it into your Mac (also powered by wall power for laptop)
  2. Turn on the camera (by opening the view screen)
  3. Press the "DIRECT DVD" button on the body of the camera
  4. At this point, you should see the EVERIO_HDD drive icon appear in the left side of the finder window
  5. Open iMovie
  6. iMovie will auto-detect your camera and you can import your videos
Have fun!

Can't transfer videos from JVC Everio camcorder onto my MAC

Share: How to import .tod files from JVC Everio HDD Camcorder to iMovie?

Requirements: iMovie (Part of the iLife 08 package)

Step 1: Connect the Everio to the Mac (Via USB)
Make sure you are powering the Everio from the mains before connecting your JVC Everio Camcorder.

Step 2: Playback on PC
Select “Playback on PC” on the Everio, once connected you will see the Everio HDD symbol appear on the desktop. The video files on the Everio are stored in the SD Folder/PRG***/MOV***.MOD.

Step 3: Open iMovie
Once you open iMovie, you will see that it recognizes the Everio straight away and will attempt to import your video.

You are now ready to use iMovie to edit your video files.

If need change .tod files to common video formats like mov, mp4, m4v, mpg, mpeg, dv, flv, avi, wmv, 3gp, mkv, mp3, aac, wma, m4a, etc. Mod Tod Video Converter for Mac is a good choice. The program can also convert mod tod to ipod, mod tod to iphone, tod to apple tv, tod to blackberry and more devices!

JVC EVERIO gz-mg330 does not appear as drive

Another solution is to make sure you are using the usb cable that came with the camera. For some reason, if I use any other, the computer won't recognize the camera. It's the one with the magnet. In fact, mine has two magnets on it.
