Easiest way would be to use a usb thumb drive. Better yest invest in an good external Hard drive - move all of your photo from old pc (use my computer - select folder and move) then connect the external hard drive to your new pc and "copy" to your new pc. when all done you even have a backup copy of your precious photos in external hard drive...

Your computer has served you bravely and is now wounded in battle.

arfoob43 either your power supply has died or you computer mainboard is toast.

See my published guide dealing with this matter it is entitled My Computer is not turning on!!! Is it dead!!! No POST!!!

To actually fix it requires a bit of electronics skill. First you will have to diagnose the component that has failed and then solder in the replacement component.

Take care

First I think you should do some troubleshooting. Try hooking up your computer to a different monitor and see if there's any display when you boot up. If that doesn't work, then open up the desktop and make sure all of the power connections are solid. One that sometimes comes off is the 2nd motherboard power connector. Because you aren't seeing the blue LED, I think it might be that connector. The motherboard has one 24 or 26 pin power connector and one simple 4 pin connector. The 4 pin is usually in a corner near the processor. Take a look at that to see if your motherboard is getting all of the power it needs. If everything is connected properly and your monitor isn't the problem, the new power supply you ordered could fix the problem. I hope this helps!

My computer will not power on, only a flashing green light on the back is on. I just bought a new computer and would like to transfer my files to my new computer. Why my old computer will not power on?...

Hi and welcome cj4man1 !
Extract the Hdd out of your old computer . Place it in a external usb box and connect the box to your new pc . You will be able to access and transfer your data .
The issue about your old computer is another matter an could have several reasons , such as power supply , damaged Hdd , defective memory , damaged motherboard ...etc ...
best regards ,

My HP Pavilian a6750y tower when turned on fan runs , but no light on powere button and moniter is blank

Indicates you have a bad Power Supply, to me.
Weak voltage power rail.

1) ALL of the LED lights combined use less than 1 Watt of power.
2) EACH fan uses 2 to 3 Watts
3) A typical Processor can use 51 to 125 Watts.
Depends on what Processor it is.

(The Pavilion a6750f uses an ATX power supply, that has a maximum rated wattage of 300 Watts.

The AMD Phenom X4 9650 processor can use up to 95 Watts,

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_AMD_Phenom_microprocessors#.22Agena.22_.28B2_.26_B3.2C_65_nm.2C_quad-core.29

(In the chart under the heading TDP)

Enough power to spin fan's, but not enough to turn the Processor on.
Not enough to also light that Power On LED light.

No Processor operating = No Video Signal from the computer.
Hence the monitor is blank.
(No Signal)

HP a6750f monitor goes to sleep without warning right in the middle of something. Disc also sleeps sometimes (I hear it wind down) but blue light still on cpu, no yellow. Was running Vista, which problem...

Well FIRST take it back and make that "Repairman" work on the problem until solved at NO extra fee. What has been done is NOT professional. Had you come to my shop, this wouldn't have happened and if it did, it would be remedied without cost, and would be worked upon until fixed. The same must apply here. You paid good money for a FIX NOT OS replacement I suspect you have a faulty component, maybe Video card maybe WiFi card etc. Please do NOT accept a run around. Try the "Honey"approach first, then "Vinegar"... if, you get any BS, from them/Him. I am sorry on behalf of us professionals.

HP Pavilion Media Center a1510 PC desktop, one long beep pause and one long beep keeps repeating, fans and lights working. Is it worth fixing?

One beep means a problem with your processor (CPU). You can try to reset it (there is(are) clip(s) on the side that hold it down to the socket). Unplug everything from your computer before opening. You may need to remove the heat sink on top of the CPU; get some thermal paste to put on the CPU before you replace it. Lift up the clip, make sure the CPU is correctly oriented (one corner is marked) and press it back down. Spread new thermal paste and replace the CPU cooler. Try rebooting the computer. If that doesn't work, you should try a new CPU - match to the socket on the motherboard. Unfortunately, if you use Windows, you will probably need to contact them to ensure that the OS key is valid.

I hope this helps.

(if your computer is really old or was cheap, replacing it with a new machine may be easier. Pull the old hard drive and either install it as a slave drive in the new machine or use a hard drive enclosure (IDE or SATA to USB or eSATA if that is on the new machine), a hard drive dock (SATA) or a IDE/SATA/USB dongle (that lets you connect a bare drive out in the open to the USB port) to get your data from the old computer.)
