I bought a new VCR which I use to record my soaps every day. When I go to play the tapes, in the VCR in which they were taped, or in any other VCRs in my house, some or all of the tape fast forwards when I hit play. I can't get it to slow down to play mode. Sometimes, if I let it keep going, it will eventually skip back down to play mode on the second or third show. Is it my tapes or my VCR? I have gone through two sets of new tapes and they are all doing this so I assume it is the VCR.... Help! I'm tired of watching all my shows in fast forward mode!
If you are recording the tapes in a slow speed, then I would suspect that the tracking pulse is not being recorded properly. Since this is a new VCR, return it for an exchange. One of the recording heads is bad.
