Open your task manager find the process that is trying to update, remember the name, stop the process and then search for it in your c:\ directory and delete it maybe that will work

It may be a conflict with another program. Roxio is a little tempramental about other software.
You can try another Burning software to check the drive is not faulty.
You can try a free program like IMGburn.
If that program works i would uninstall roxio, run a registry cleaner. I like CC cleaner's built in registry cleaner.
Then re install roxio and check the roxio site for any updates

Roxio Creator Classic 6.2.0.110; after dragging doc into data field and clicking the burn icon, message appears: "There are no supported recorders available. Make sure that your recorder is powered on...

well i would go out to the roxio web page and select either tech support or look for drivers and downloads, this is the only way you can be assured you have the most up to date drivers. sometimes the cd's are shipped with outdated drivers. follow the prompts it may delete the old drivers or just update them. then power your machine off wait 12 seconds and then reboot and try again. it is frustratring i know but you need to reboot to update your machine

In Roxio Creator 10, I attempt to burn a disk of a slide show. I receive an error message 8004520C When I check production it reports no problem. This is repeatable.

Generally, defragmenting your hard disk will resolve this issue. To defragment your computer:

  1. Go to Start--> Programs --> Accessories --> System Tools --> Disk Defragmenter.
  2. When the Disk Defragmenter window opens, choose Defragment.

If defragmentation doesn't resolve the issue, burn your project as a data file, and then burn your project as a data disc using Disc Copier or Creator Classic. To create a disc image/data file:

  1. After clicking the Burn button, the Burn Project window opens.
  2. You have two data burning options:
    • Image file - this option will save your project as an .ISO file. To burn this file you will need to use the Burn Image option in Creator's Copy section.
    • Folder Set - burning a folder set will create a Video_TS folder that you can burn using Creator Classic. Burning a folder set to DVD will create a fully functional DVD. Do NOT rename the Video_TS folder other wise it will not play! Simply place it in a folder that is the name of your project if you need to keep track.

I lost my roxio 10 numbers

Uninstall the software.
Access http://www.MajorGeeks.com
and download/install the "Ashampoo Burning 6 Free Edition" software.

It is *FREE* software that works better than ROXIO.

When I start up windows XP - used for many years satisfactorily, it now tries to start a utility to install Windows Update manager for Roxio. This started suddenly for sume reason about a month ago and at...

It sounds like something in your Startup menu, that wasn't uninstalled. This is a problem, because it can be named anything, and you probably won't recognize it. Unless you can find someone that has had the exact same problem, and identified the process, you will have to try to restore your computer to a date previous to that when the problem started occuring. That would be the easiest fix. If that doesn't work, you might try googling the problem, you might get lucky and find someone that's figured it out. Last resort, of course, is to reload XP. Good luck, I know your pain, been there.

In Roxio Creator 2010 slideshow won't open..complaining " Certificate file is missing or has been corrupted". Reinstaling does not help

Hi.

Check that the date on your computer is correct. Certificates are checked on an online microsoft database. If your computer has date Jan.2001, you get the certificate error.

If that was not the problem, then try the following:

Go to Control pane, switch it to classic view.
Open Control Panel ->Appearance and Personalization->Folder Options->View , then click on "Show Hidden files and folders" and Apply or OK
Go to : c:\Program Data
Delete folder called Roxio & Sonic
Try starting Roxio Creator.

If still no luck , do a system restore to a date that is one or two days before you tried to install Roxio.
After system restore, log in from account with administrator privileges, and reinstall Roxio.
When you reinstall Roxio, instead of double clicking on installer file, try clicking right mouse button on setup file and choose "Run as Administrator" from dropdown menu.
Allow all requests to allow system changes when asked.

Regards.

I get an error in Creator Classic

Hi,
I'm not sure what the problem is. Does it happen regularly? If it is regular make a note of any actions you take before the error occurs.
Check to see whether you have the latest updates for your software.
Also check on line to see whether any other uses have a similar problem check on any forums...
Roxio may have their own forums or be able to assist with your query.
Failing this you may solve this by uninstalling the software and reinstall it this may do the trick.

Kind regards
Alleluia

EZCD 5.0 and EZCD 6.0

I don't think that 6 and 5 are compatible 6 is an upgrade from 5. I have just 5 on one of my old XP computers and it works fine, but that's all I have. I went to the website and they are not giving any support for Roxio 6 anymore.
I will tell you that Roxio Easy Media Creator is fantastic. The things you can do with that are unbelieveable. I got it at Sam's Club for about $70. But I know that does not solve your problem.

Roxio 5
To burn data files, Open project selector, make a data cd, click data cd project. WhenEasy CD Creator 5 opens and you choose your files to burn, try this: Select Disc at Once Radio button, click okay and click burn.

OS: Issue When burning a CD or DVD, you receive an error, burning does not complete, or your media is rejected. Resolution Burning errors can happen for a variety of reasons. Roxio has found that doing the following steps resolves about 80% of all burning issues. Please give all these steps a try and see if it fixes your writing problems.

  1. Update your drive's firmware/drivers. Most companies regularly update their firmware and drivers. If you are unsure what model your burner is and its firmware, click here to find out.

  2. Enable DMA. Direct Memory Access enables better efficiency of data. For more info, check how to enable DMA.
  3. The media. Check the following:
    • The disc is clean and unused.
    • The media is recommended by your burner's manufacturer or try a different brand, preferably a name brand, if you continue to have problems.
    • Make sure that media (-R/+R, -/+RW, dual-layer compatibility) is supported by the burner by checking burner's manual or manufacturer's website. This is especially true for some Blu-Ray burners which do not support CD-R/RW media.

  4. If your burner is external, make sure it is connected directly to the computer via USB/Firewire and not a hub or other other device like a sound card.
  5. Update to the latest PX Engine. The PX Engine improves compatibility with newer burners on the market.
  6. A reinstall of the burner's drivers may also help.
    • Windows XP: Go to My Computer and choose Properties.
    • Windows Vista: Go to Start --> Control Panel --> System and Maintenance --> Device Manager.
    • Click on the Hardware tab.
    • Select Device Manager
    • Expand DVD/CD-ROM Drives, then select your burner and uninstall it by right -licking on it.
    • Reboot.

I do know if you have Roxio5 you cannot installed Nero 6 InCD, not compatible. Other than all of the above, I have no more suggestions. I am really sorry, wish I could work on your computer to figure out the problem. This is my specialty. Reloading computer and figuring out problems. It is so much easier hands on.
Good Luck
