Sounds like a faulty lid switch assy. not recognizing the lid has actually been put down so for safety reasons will not start agitation. you can google that model number for faulty lid switch ( i just did) and find part numbers and all

Washer fills but won't agitate..

Hello & Welcome to FixYa

When the washer fills but does not agitate or spin then you can check if the lid switch is fine. You can jump start the lid switch by connecting both the wires with each other or use the third wire to act as jumper between the two. After this if the problem is solved then replacing lid switch is recommended repair. Please get back to me if you have any other questions.

I put the clothes in washer it filled up but it would not start agitating Model # is LAT9605AAE and serial # is 13670953My Thank You

The lid switch may be out of adjustment or broken. Open the control panel and locate the lid switch. With the control panel open look at the lid switch mechanism as you open and close the lid. Make sure the slide is making contact with the lid switch.
If your model has a fuse on the lid switch verify the fuse is not blown.

Maytag washer, model: LAT8415AAE top loader. Washer fills with water but will not start agitating, spin or drain.

Check lid switch. Most will not run with lid open and the switch may not be pressed down when door is closed

Agitator will not agitate. Also water trickles in instead of flowing in like a tap turned on. Also water leaking under from pipe that goes into plastic component - looking from back of machine bottom...

  • the agitator has a set screw in the side of it about half way down. this may have rusted out or fallen out.
  • the transmissions may be failing (unlikely)
  • the water inlet valves (where you connect the hoses to the washer) have screens in them, they might be clogged causing the water to slowly drip in.
  • the water leak is most likely caused by a rusted clamp loosing its pressure on the hose.
  • the plastic component is the water pump
  • it might be time for a new washer
