on most, your push down and turn to hi to open gas valve and turn on piezio to light burner. it sounds like you have a knob already turned on . the control under the knob may need replacing. kinda an easy replacement if you get new part. check out repairclinic.com for video(maybe) but for parts for sure. be careful. gas is explosive.
sounds like it was turned a little past the stop point. Pull two knobs off and examine the back side that slides onto the shaft. Switch them and try again. If the problem is on the same burner, the shaft may be turned past its normal stop position. You can try turning it until it stops in the opposite direction and force it just a tiny bit more. That was how I fixed mine.
hi.gud day...tnx for question.im gerbee here in the phillipines, the problem of the the unit is have an dirt or water,& oil coz why the unit is not stoping cliking sound.the best thing to is clean the area were the problem it is,first unplug the unit & turn in off the gas line for the safety..get the vacium & bottle of thinner...first remove all the knobs of the control valve(make sure to remember how to remove the knobs coz if turn back as how you remove it). then drops some thinner located on valve switches(knobs position) 5-10ml,,,then put the vaccium in the place were u drop the thinner to suction the thinner, oil & some dirt.try 2 times for good result...after this if is not work,u nid to call an expert tecnician to dismantle & clean the micro swicth one by one(no nid to replace the parts)
You must replace those controls. Cleaning or loosening them up would be temporary at best and the next time they stick it could be in the open position. Safety first...Eric
it is strange that you have no gas and no spark! if you held a match to the burner and turned the burner valve on it would lite di spite a failed ignitor, but for it not to lite, the burner valve[its what the knob attaches too] would have to be blocked[thats rare]or ........i got it .....the knob is broken.thats the only thing the burner valve and the spark ignitor have in common.try a knob from another burner................again.you have spark, because others are working.spark on troubled burner would work if valve blocked at orifice outlet, and if spark failed you would still get gas they work independent of each other,[but in unison].thats why im thinking knob.its the item that works both .when you turn the knob it opens the gas valve and as the gas valve rotates by turning the knob it activates or turns the spark switch so it closes the curcit allowing the electricty to the spark moduel.hey i hope that helps a little. God bless ,tom
Try cleaning the knobs. I did the same thing you did (turning the circuit breaker off but that did not solve the problem.
My wife just tried turning the knobs and that seemed to work. It appears that one of the knobs may have been so sticky that the though it's in the OFF position it thinks it's still ON.
are you up for the job? you may need a new switch.(Part # 74009254)the origal switch is nla but this switch should work. If you attemp changing yourself make sure you turn off the circuit breaker to the range,
If you have recently cleaned it, you may have gotten moisture behind the knobs and into the spark switches. Be very careful not to let moisture get behind knobs. Very dangerous. If this is the case, they may dry out themselves and stop sparking. If not you may need to replace a spark switch behind knob.
Had the same problem. All five burners were continuously igniting, after my wife had given the stove a clean. Turned off the power, removed the five knobs and corresponding rubber rings, and used a hair dryer on the five holes where the knobs were for about ten minutes in total. Hey presto, when I turned the power back on, the constant igniting had stopped. Thank you all. I love the internet :-)
