The Sony DSC-H2 and DSC-H5 have a terrible shutter button design and Sony will not admit that it's a design problem. The post for the shutter button is so thin that it snaps in half very easily!!

If you do a Google search for "Sony shutter button repair" you will see the #1, 2 and 3 links are all for darntoothysam com. We have done hundreds of this repair over the years!

The repair service is just $70 total for the part, installation and return shipping of the camera. Please visit our site, we would be happy to service your camera.

Hope this helps!

Taking pictures with my Sony super Steady Shot camera DSC-H2 What if I want the focus to be on something that is not in the center of the lens?

On my Sony DSC-H1,I just depress the shutter button HALFWAY,with the subject in the center.then recompose the shot as you'd like it(i.e.off center), and the subject will stay in focus.

I have a 2005 h2 and i went to put it in park and the shifter slid forward real easy with out pushing the button in. now the shifter handle is stuck in park but on the dash it says its in drive which it is...

Because of the computer set up - you will need to take it to the shop. If it is a rental or leased vehicle then the factory may have shut it down. Seen this happen.
Try this - take down the vin number and call the dealer - ask about recalls or any complications that concern the vin number you have.
This should get you pointed in the right direction.

Sony's broken button issue

You need to use you fingernail and pop off the entire button assembly. When you have done this you will be looking inside your camera.

Set the new button assembly into the slots. It will not want to go on by just pushing down. The plasitc assembly is very slick so put a small piece of scotch tape the yellow stuff. I put the tape around the plastic assembly. Make sure you are only putting tape on the chrome plastic assembly. The reason for the tape is to get a good hold of the plastic asembly.

Once you have the tape on the assembly/chrome piece you need to really push down and twist clockwise. You will hear a click and then another click. Make sure you hear two clicks. I had to push and twist pretty hard to make it lock into place.

Problem with my dsc-h2

this may be a fault or simply you not quiet fully familiar with the camera - fully read the manual-including the more comprehensive on on the software disk. I suspect perhaps it is you- if you can conpose the scene in the un-focussed mode and it camera focusses as the shutter is closed thats OK- also it may be a sensitivity thing in the camera A look on the Pentax website technical help may be worthwhile.
