More and more, you have to change the gas valve AND the orifice due to the liability issue of changing only the orifice and not doing a complete conversion. If, and this might be a big if, a conversion kit is available, you will need the model # of your dryer to order it. The kit will come with a spring and a tension nut for the gas valve and the orifice you need. Instructions will come with the kit. Follow them to the letter. An improperly installed conversion kit, or just changing the orifice, can be very dangerous. LP operates at a higher pressure than the natural gas the dryer was built to use, and an improper conversion presents a significant fire hazard.
yes it is very much necessary. the natural gas pressure is much lower that LP. it is @3.5 in, water column. The monometer is a pressure reading instrument that will tell what pressure is present at the gas source, appliance gas manifold and gas valve. Read the conversion kit instructions well. And adjust pressure according to data plate specifications. A u-tube water monometer is the best and most accurate however a standard analog will surfice. Please use caution.
You can get the conversion kit. It will tell you how to convert the dryer. I recommend that you get a technician to do it though.
