I have a ge profile microwave...model JVM290WV001...handle broke off completely...ge said need new door...cannot buy handle seperate and that they no longer carry this part....can anyone tell me how to fix/adhere the handle......or where to purchase a new handle. I don't want to buy the entire door?

Try to find a GE service poit in your town.

Actually the door handle CAN be replaced at a cost much less than pruchasing an entire new microwave oven. And, YOU can repair this yourself and save the cost of a service call. On MOST microwave ovens, you just have to remove the inner door panel that goes around the perimeter of the glass. The following link explains how to replace the door handle:

If the model number is correct, the part number is WB15X322. The cost is about $40. Replacements may be purchased at the websites listed in the link I provided.

They don't like the general public fixing doors because of the danger of microwave leakage, you can do it just ask the seller how he got it off and hot to reinstall it if he wants to sell it. there are seals that can be damaged that could cause you to get hurt if the door is not properly lined up. Your call.

Normally you have to separate the door panels (as shown in the attached photo) and then you'll see the screws you need to remove.

I have the same issue. The Handle broke off my GE Microwave Oven (Model JVM1190SY 001). GE does not sell the handle seperately from what I can tell. I just ordered a new door. It's rediculously expensive. I tried to replace the handle with a nice drawer pull but couldn't find a size pull to match and I broke the plastic cover trying to get access to the screws for the handle, which is why I decided to buy the new door. Hopefully installation is not that difficult. This oven was manufactured in 2001, seems the handles have a 7 year life span.

Hi - I also have GE profile spacesaver and the handle broke on the bottom only, did not want to spend money on a new handle. Put clear silicone make sure you put enough on and masking tape to hold it overnight has not come off in over a year, any ecess silicone just remove it with hands. Cheap and excellent solution.
