Hi, I have the same problem. I ran out of color ink, so I took the color cartridge out... and now I'm getting error 5 and can't even print black and white although the black cartridge is full.

Can anyone please help on this. I don't want to buy a color cartridge for black and white printing and scanning!!!

(printer cannot recognize ink cartridge colour or black or both )this is the problem

ok ink cartridges only have a certain life a bit like a light bulb they can burn out at any time for no reason usually just after you have had them filled

the cartridges can last six days weeks or months its pot luck the trick is to not let them run too dry if possible before refilling

do not leave them empty for too long because when they refill the cartridges the machine as to scrub the gold coloured electrodes on the front harder of the cartridges and this can cause the cartridges to blow after a short while

IF E5 SHOWS THEN SORRY BUT YOU NEED TO BUY A NEW CARTRIDGE OR CARTRIDGES

Thanx for your help. I have one more day to give back the printer to the store, and I'll do it. Everywhere I looked for a solution for putting back the refilled cartridges, there was no proper solution to do so. And I refuse to buy cartridges half 'a price of a printer...

I cant print it says I'm out of black link and I just replaced it and it's flashing E 1 6

From http://www.refreshcartridges.co.uk/igloo/clearing-canon-pixma-error-message-e13-e16/

Locate the STOP/RESET/RESUME button on your printer which is represented by a triangle within a circle on the body of your printer and is usually in red, white or black as pictured below. With the reset button located hold it down for at least five seconds and then release it.

Canon mx330 how to change ink cartridges

Use the thumb drill to literally drill a hole into the side of the old cartridge. Make sure to chose a location that's closer to the top of the ink cartridge to avoid over spillage when you add the new ink. Once you have the hole just squeeze in some ink of corresponding color into the hole. Not a huge amount, but enough to get some use out of it before the next refill. I highly recommend covering the hole afterward with a sticker or something so that you don't dry out the cartride. Reinsert the cartridge into the printer and use. (: All set!

*Note: You may have to reset the count on the cartridge to avoid getting messages that the ink need to be changed. From here on in, use your eyes to determine if the cartridge needs a refill (:

Cant load the printer cartridges for the pixma mp190

If you are trying to figure out how to load your ink cartridge in you Canon Pixma follow these instructions.
Make sure you printer is powered on. Open the top cover including the key display.
  • Step 2 Allow the ink return to move to left and stop. Remove the old cartridge which should have a 40 Black or 40 color on it by pushing down and popping it out of the holder.
  • Step 3 Now open your new ink cartridge and tear off the protective stip from the ink cartridge.
  • Step 4 Place the new ink cartridge in at a downward angle and then push into a straight position by pushing the bottom into place.
  • Step 5 Close the top an allow for the printer to adjust into place. Do a test print to make sure the printer is working correctly.
  • Step 6 If you experience an error message refer to your canon guide book for troubleshooting tips. Be sure your new ink cartridge in placed in correctly. Should be next to the other ink cartridge in same alignment.

Black won't print. Changed all ink cartridges,

It may need a new purge assembly, if it doesn't clean both sides properly either color or black will quit. You might try a new printhead first, QY6-0064-000 around $40.00
