Hi,
My windows had an error and thus i had to format and reinstall it. Now the sound is not working. It might be because of no sound driver.
My laptop is Compaq presario V2000. Its an old model bought in year 2006. Can you suggest what i should do?

Hi, If you are facing registry problem. I suggest you Format windows and reinstall windows. Because any windows registry error then not proper windows running so better option is windows format. I hope you HDD drive working fine.
in this case try reinstalling directx just google it and it will com up and see how that effects it the other thing i would do is reinstall your sound driver and check if a new version is out.
hope this helps and good luck with the problem and by the way don't forget to vote for this solution
Means windows cannot find your sound card and has not installed drivers for it. Thus no sound. Need to reinstall sound card drivers. First check if hardware / device manager shows error state for sound card. ie yellow circle with exclamation mark. If so delete those drivers and restart to reinstall. If you're lucky it will install correctly next time. Otherwise you need to install drivers yourselves from m/b or sound card driver CD
you cannot downgrade from Vista to Xp unless you format your hard drive or install xp on another partition check your device manager for yellow marks on sound devices and update your sound drivers
This file may be corrupted or deleted,u need to reinstall the OS ,it is the better way to stop viewing this error messages.it is rare case to handle this error without reinstalling the OS.
Hi. You need to install the sound card drivers and the video card drivers. I cannot find any reference to your cd, so I cannot tell you which folders they would be in. Have you tried using Windows Update to see if it finds your drivers? They would be listed under Hardware, Optional on the left once Windows Update finds the updates you need. Give that a try and let me know whether it works or not.
same problem
