2007 Harley Fatboy Taillight problem.

All vehicles built after 1927, for road use, must have a working tail light.
Yes it has one, probably needs a new bulb or reconnect the socket on the mud guard.

Check you lighting fuse first then if it is good separate the two problems and identify if the brake light is what is coming on or the tail lite or both elements. When that is corrected move on to the headlight.

Look under the rear fender and check the wiring harness going to the light, mine was hanging down and rubbing on the tire for quite A while til i noticed no light. The wires were melted and burned out my Panacea Keriokyn controller.Or the fuse too could be the issue. OR Ignition switch. Etc.

Probably a bulb/ rear brake switch combination. If your front brake switch is working, then half of the bulb is working. No taillight issue, probably a bulb. No rear brake light, probably the rear brake switch. Located on the lower right rear of the frame, behind the exhaust. Check for power on the orange/white wire at switch. If you have that then check for power on the other terminal of the switch while pushing on the pedal. The rear brake switch is hydraulically operated so you must have adequate pressure to activate it.

Hi, Joe tail light issues are relatively easy to diagnose and repair always check the tail light fuse first and make sure you have power on both sides of the fuse holder and the usual suspects are:
1. Taillight bulb element is broken.
2. Taillight bulb soldered contacts are extremely worn down.
3. Taillight bulb socket corroded.
4. Taillight bulb socket has no power and or ground.
5. Taillight wiring harness damaged from the rear tire.
6. Taillight rear fender wiring harness connector faulty due to corroded, broken, or loose pins/sockets.

The light assembly is grounded to the body through the mounting screws. It sounds as though it is a bad ground. You could run a ground wire to a bolt on the frame from a mounting screw to check for aground problem.

Can you check if the bulb is busted? Most likely your tail light bulb is fused.

I fixed it. The LED light needs a "load equalizer" to operate properly. Instructions said nothing of needing one. I combed the internet and found the answer. I responded to FixYa by e-mail "REPLY" and informed of the fix. Thanks for your help...I'll remember your site for future needs.
