How do I uninstall my garage door sensors. They continue to give me problems, it acts like there is something in front of the sensor and prevents the door from closing.

Buy a bypass module on ebay , it will bypass the sensors altogether and this device works perfectly everytime!!!

When you say sensors, are you talking about the photo-eye that checks if obstruction is in path of garage door?

1) You can buy sensors for $20-30. They seem generic

2) The new openers may be set up so by-pass is not an option.
Solution: In that case, you can move sensors above the garage door and put them face to face to see if that helps.

3) The way the sensors work is this. One side produces beam of light. Other side receives light. The receiver keeps a circuit closed at all times when light is received. If no light, then the circuit opens up and an electronic part interprets the lack of signal and turns off opener.

Solution: one side produces light. It does not have a switch. The other side has the switch. You can disconnect (or cut) a wire see which side has the light. The other side has the switch ... cut the 2 wires on the side with a switch, cap them off, and then see if opener works. Next twist the 2 wires together and see if opener works.

4) Fall-back position: Mark your wires and you can put it back the way it was.

My Chamberlain garage door will not close unless you hold the opener unless you hold the opener until the door is completely closed. What can cause this?

If the remotes will still open the door but it will only close if you hold the button down on the wall control continuously then you likely have an issue with the safety sensors.

There is a safety sensor mounted near the floor on either side of the door, these sensors have electronic "eyes" that have to "see" each other or the door control stops the garage door from closing. The idea is to prevent the door from closing on something or someone who may be in the way. When you continuously hold down the close button in the garage you are over-riding this system.

An intermittent alignment issue with the sensors or damaged sensor wiring or a failing sensor could sometimes make it impossible for the system to determine if anything is under the door and, again, it will prevent the door from closing normally.

Each sensor has an LED on it, if one LED is off or faint or flickering the sensors are out of alignment. The mount bracket might have loosened or bent, or maybe the nuts holding it have loosened. Either way, fix the mount or tighten the nuts so the sensors are aligned and both LEDs are bright.
If neither sensor has an LED lit, you may have damaged wiring to the sensors. Often this happens if the wires were mounted with a standard stapler and the wire is pinched. The wire eventually breaks internally and the sensors stop working.

The overhead lights might also flash 10 times if you try to close the door and there is a sensor problem. Your opener may also have a

Lock Feature

that could stop the remotes from working, indicated by a flashing light on the wall control, but normally this feature would not require continuously holding the button to close the door.

If everything checks out, it is possible there is a problem with the control in the opener itself, but normally a problem here will not allow the door to open normally or allow you to over-ride the controls to close it.

Owners Manual for Chamberlain Garage Door opener. Model 2265R

Unfortunately, the 2265R is not a Chamberlain supported model. The manuals for supported garage door openers are list here: http://www.chamberlain.com/parts-and-support/installation-manuals . The manual for the 2265 is here: http://www.chamberlain.com/CatalogResourcesV3/en-us/shared/files/tucmanuals/A2497M.PDF . There is also the 2265C: http://www.chamberlain.com/CatalogResourcesV3/en-us/shared/files/tucmanuals/A2512M.PDF .

It could be that the 2265R is a refurbished model. Then the manual for the 2265 garage door opener will give you the the correct manual.

In my experience, when the garage door goes down partway and then reverses completely, the problem is something breaking the light beam between the safety sensors. This can be a piece of grass or the shadow from the door when one or both sensors are getting full sun. If the problem is some weed getting pushed into the sensor range, simply cut the nearby grass shorter. To check if the problem is a shadow, try getting a couple of people to stand near (but outside) of the garage door. They should be positioned to cast a shadow on the sensors. If the door closes properly when the button is pressed, then the solution is to wait for a slightly different sun position to close the door or to continue to hold the button on the wall panel.

I hope this helps.

You need to hook those wires back up and then check the door sensors very closely. If the light in one of the door sensors is dim or flashing it will cause your problem.

Hello, Jamesgeorge8 -

The sensors for the garage door opener may not be properly aligned or there may be dust and or cobwebs blocking the sensors from interacting with each other.

The sensor alignment problem was the issue with our garage door opener. My husband tried to "futz with" the sensors with no luck. So, we finally called the garage door repair card (the previous resident of the home left the business card for the garage door repair company slipped behind the power button inside the garage) and he came and fixed the problem (for a price) quickly.

You may find information from the San Francisco Examiner (newspaper) helpful. This is the link:

This is an instructive video on how to replace garage door sensors I found on YouTube:

If the main light flashes 10 times when the door stops it is a door sensor problem. Make sure the small light on each one is lit and not flickering. If the main light doesn't flash you have either a bad IR sensor which is a small printed circuit board just in front of the motor or you need to increase the down force which is a control on the rear of the motor unit.

If the main light flashes 10 times when the door reverses it is a door sensor problem. Look closely at the green lights to make sure one isn't flickering ever so slightly. Tweak them a bit.

If the main light flashes 10 times and the door reverses to the open position it is a door sensor problem. Make sure the small light on each sensor is lit and not flickering. If they aren't lit tweak them a bit. If they both won't come on you have a bad sensor or the wiring leading to it.

If the main light doesn't flash 10 times you can increase the 'down force' which is a control on the rear of the motor unit. Increase this just a bit and try.

Door will not close, acts as if there is something in the way

The sensors may have been bumped so that they are no longer aligned. Tweak them and see if that light doesn't come on steady. If it doesn't you will need new sensors.

Garage Door

Are the sensor lights located on each side of the garage door opening? Have you checked to see if they are in alignment with each other? Also check to see that any wire from the sensors are disconnected on the motor or at the sensor itself. Good Luck! Countrycurt0
