Then you have a faulty Power Inverter.. You need to replace the power inverter below the screen... it is the Long rectangular Circuit board - it is what the lcd wires/plug plugs into.. it converts the DC power going through your laptop back to AC Power to Be able to power the bulb..They average $12 to $30 on Ebay for replacement... just unplug from both ends ( display cable plug and lcd bulb plug ) When Searching on Ebay... type : sony vaio vgn-tx power inverter
I replaced the screen because it failed down the middle of the screen but still worked. when I put the new screen in, I was able to see the screen working but extremely faint. I thought I bought a bad screen so I installed the original back in and now have the identical problem. So I know the screen is good along with the inverter board. It doesn't make sense. I am a tech myself so I think I know what I am doing but am not familiar with this model. Will the cable with the pink and white wires only go in one way to the connection on the screen? am I missing any other connections that I didn't do? thanks

On the back of the screen is a large wire check the conections also on the inhibitor which is the long thin cicuitboard which has a pink and yellow wire may be around the wrong way so check all conections.
Did you replace the 'INVERTER' ?
If you take your computer into a darkened room,
and you can dimly see the 'normal' Windows desktop,
then you need to replace the inverter.
Probably, there was nothing wrong with the 'old' LCD screen.
Try to sell it on eBay, to recoup your investment in the 'new' screen.
