My kodak z612 camera does not turn on.

All my camera does when I put the on swith on is to blink green and then shut off. The battery is new and I tried other new batteries and this is not the problem. The book says to plug in an a/c adapter.I don't have one. I am about to but one.Kodak wants to charge me $135 to repair it and they can go to....

thia happened to me and the camera was under warranty (bought in Late Nov. 07 and not used until Jan 08. Used a total of 4 times when the problem occurred..Lens also will not retract. Took to store where purchased, still with the Kodak tag on and was told I had to send Kodak..you guessed it, I received a letter saying the cost to repair is $160. and their tech had found blunt trama to camera... THE LENS HAS TO BE REPLACED. It was never dropped, banged or anything that could have caused this. so i guess I'm out the $240.00 I paid for this camera as certainly don't want to spend $160 as this would make the camera cost $400.00 AND IT CERTAINLY IS NOT WORTH THAT. CONSIDERING THAT I ONLY TOOK 80 PICTURES IT WAS A VERY EXPENSIVE MISTAKE BUYING THIS CAMERA.

I have exactly the same problem with exactly the same results. I did get it to turn back on once by forcing the lens back into the camera. It worked for a while until I tried to get the zoom to work. Then...same problem. Don't know what to do from here!

SOURCE: Kodak z612 black screen!

Hi Kristoni...I had the same problem, and fixed it. This is what you do. Get yourself a good strong magnet it dosen't have to be big just strong. We are dealing with a stuck shutter so we have to spring it back.
Turn the camera on and turn it upside down, slide the magnet to the right of the tripod mounting hole onthe round portion of the lenz you may hear a click but you will see the LCD screen lite up. Its good for taking only one pic then your back to sq. one. You have to do this everytime but its a fix.
Merry Christmas.

SOURCE: kodak z812 is problem

I had the same issue with my same brand/model camera for months. I used it maybe twice and then it decided not to turn on, no matter what I did. I finally got in touch with Kodak (the first time they told me to try different batteries, which of course did not help). I spoke with someone who figured out that I had a faulty memory card. When I removed my memory card, I was able to turn my camera on. I had to reset my date, but once I did that (still keeping the memory card out) I was able to take pictures just fine. Give that a try and see if it helps!

Another word of advice, if turns out to be your memory card, you'll need to purchase a new one. Kodak, of course, provides troubleshooting for their brand memory cards as well. Just an FYI.

Hope this helps!

Remove the batteries and clean the battery contacts inside the camera with a soft cloth (a heavy buildup on the contacts may require cleaning with a fine wire brush, steel wool, or sandpaper). Remove any residue that the cleaning leaves in the camera, and then reinstall the batteries. This clears most power-on problems, but if yours persists, check the Kodak troubleshooting guide at:

SOURCE: i have a sandisk sdhc card but it wont format on

The Z612 uses SD or MMC cards. It will not accept SDHC cards. You'll need to use cards 2GB and smaller.

Hi, my Kodak easyshare camera bottons aren't working. What can or do I need to do?

Check to see if you have a Li-ion battery in the camera. Li-ion batteries have a safety feature built in to shut the camera down if the battery voltage falls too low. Put new batteries in and try it.

Kodak EasyShare Z612 Shuts down after taking a few pictures.

Question : What batteries can I use in my digital camera, and how long do they last?
Battery life depends on how you use your camera, the type of batteries you select, and how you handle the batteries.

Your camera is compatible with: KODAK Li-Ion Rechargeable Battery KLIC-8000 and KODAK CRV3 Lithium Batteries: A non-rechargeable battery. (so your battery might be in need of a change)

Using Your Camera

Some features, such as reviewing pictures and using the flash, require more power than others. Follow these guidelines to get the best use of your batteries:
  • Limit the time your camera is in Review mode.
  • Limit your use of the flash.
  • Use the LCD Dimmer or Auto Power Off features, if available on your camera.
  • Transfer your pictures to your computer using a compatible power adapter, camera dock, printer dock, or memory card reader.
  • Check that the latest firmware is installed on your camera. See Software, Driver & Firmware Downloads.
Handling Your Batteries
  • Wipe the battery contacts with a clean, dry cloth before loading it in your camera.
  • When using your camera in temperatures below 41° F (5° C), carry spare batteries and keep them warm.
  • Do not discard cold batteries that do not work; they may be usable when they return to room temperature.
  • Do not allow batteries to touch metal objects, including coins. Otherwise, the batteries may short-circuit, discharge energy, become hot, or leak.

Kodak EasyShare Z612 Digital Camera Error #803

This problem is frequently due to corroded battery terminals inside the camera. Remove the batteries and wipe the terminals with a soft cloth (heavy corrosion may require a fine wire brush, steel wool, or sandpaper). Remove any residue left in the camera by the cleaning. Clean the terminals on the batteries in the same manner, and then replace them in the camera. This cures most problems, but if it doesn't work for you, check the Kodak troubleshooting guide at:

http://www.kodak.com/global/en/service/repair/troubleshooting/troubleshooting.jhtml?pq-path=6198

It uses a simple Q&A format to diagnose problems and propose solutions.

Kodak easy share z612 will not turn on to take a picture

When the battery dies, usually the camera will retract the lens if possible. If the battery is so dead the lens can not retract, I would recommend trying to charge or change the battery. Or try to turn the camera on, and then manually shutting it off if you can.
