Microsoft Office Trial Version and Upgrade

Just bought a laptop yesterday that had the Microsoft Office trial version already installed. I bought the Microsoft Office Professional 2007 Upgrade disk. Will the upgrade work or do I need to buy the full version? If the upgrade will work, do I just need to run the disk or do I need to delete the trial version before I install, or, do I just need to put in the liscence number and not have to install anything?!

So how do I know if I fit any of the qualifying criteria? I just took the laptop out of the box yesterday. Is there anyway to find out if I have valid licsence for any of the programs? I would assume that Microsoft Works would have a licscence but I want to be sure before I open up the Upgrade.

  • motleycool May 28, 2008

So it would be safe to assume that somewhere on the laptop I have a liscence number that would allow me just to use an Upgrade instead of having to buy a full version?

After installing the setup.office.com on your computer system, your existing MS account or create a new account and enter the ***********.

Download Microsoft office as it could be the best choice for your work if you want to manage your data with an efficient tool.

I was having trouble installing Office upgrade on top of Works because of Works bug. Could not install works patch because it needed the install disk (which HP does not provide). I installed the Trial version of Office and installed the upgrade on top of that with no problem. I'm not sure what is going to happen after the end of the 60-day trial period. We'll see and I'll hit you back.

You should not have any problem installing it over the already installed version. According to the Microsoft website, any version of Office 2007 is eligible for the upgrade. You should not uninstall the trial version since the upgrade disk you purchased will look for an installed Office product that it can upgrade. If the upgrade requires an uninstall, it will probably do it itself. I would definitely go through the installation.

Hope this helps! : )

That is my assumption. Worse case scenerio - you try to install the upgrade version and it tells you that you need to purchase the full version. It will not install and you'll still have the trial version installed. Of course, then you'll have to purchase the full version but you might be able to sell your upgrade version to someone who needs it.

Why is my microsoft wod program asking for a product code and where could i find this

If you mean Microsoft Word then this is a payed for program. It comes install on most new computers as a 60day or 60 use trail. You can find the product code on the box if you bought it when you bought the laptop.
Alternatively it will give you the option to use Office started which is just a really basic version of office with adverts and limited functionality.
If you don't like that try downloading OpenOffice.org

I bought a laptop with microsoft office 2007 already installed but the product key thats on the sticker does not work can u help please

That product key is actually for your Windows operating system.

The Microsoft Office Pro that you have there is a trial version. Usually 30-60 days trial period. You have to buy the product with a valid product key separately.

Hope this helps!

I can't access Microsoft Office even when it is genuine.

It sounds like you had a trial version of Microsoft Office installed. To use the full version you will need to buy a license of Microsoft Office.

How do I go about buying a Product Key for Microsoft office home and Student 2007? I bought a new laptop and they never gave me a product code

If you have a trial version of MS Office Home and Student Edition already installed in your computer, you must buy a retail package of that same programe (MS Office Home and Student Edition) and language of the trial installed.
Then you can use the product key of the package you bought to convert your trial into a full version.
To convert MS Office Home and Studente Edition, you don't just buy a key, you must buy the full package with the CD you can use for future installations.

Can't install microsoft office small business 2007 upgrade

The upgrade version is only to upgrade a previous version of MS office. The trial version does not qualify as previous version to be upgraded. You need to purchase the full product rather than the upgrade.

If you know somebody who has MS office 2003 with a valid product key, you could install that version, and then upgrade it with the product that you purchased

Microsoft office 2007 home and student edition trial expired without using

It depends which trial version was downloaded. You can't reinstall the same trial download but they do have other trial downloads.

There is a student 2007, small business 2007, professional 2007 etc. versions. You can download each one of these if you have not already used these trial versions. They all offer the basics...Word, Excell, Powerpoint, Outlook with added software depending on what version you download.
