I get picture and sound, but then it shoots out on me. its almost as if its tripping a circuit. When l unplug it and let it sit for 5-10 minutes, when it gets plugged back in, l hear the whine from it turning back on without me pushing the buttons. Power supply or high voltage supply problem---set well known for bad solder connections in and around the high voltage transformer---also known in early models for the high voltage splitter to be bad.
sounds like your high voltage transformer is leaking do not take the back off this set that is high voltage leaking and it can do you some harm. It needs to be taken to a repair shop
do u hear any high voltage static when you first turn on. possible high voltage problem with the high voltage splitter or focus pack. ussally when there a problem with these high voltage is being generated but not delevered to the tubes
Hello, The Horizontal Output transistor needs to be changed as it is most likely shorted. The current transistor on this set is a 2SD3402 (no longer available) it's new replacement part number is the 2SC5902. Order 2 2SC5902 Horiz Output transistors.Replace the transistor by it self once and if all is ok then fine. If not replace it again and also the the Flyback HV transformer. The HOT transistor is probably shorted again and the transformer is causing it.

Modern sets have certain protective circuits to avoid catching fire.
The clicking you are hearing is probably from a relay that is part of this protection or could be caused by high voltage arcing; either condition is not in the realm of a do-it-yourself repair.
if you see near plug it might be due to sparking in socket or plug by calling electrician it might be repaired easily.
But you have seen blue light in tv & chattering sound than it is dangerous.
do not put on tv &call skilled person.
