I have an Olympus E300 and I don't know what I did but when I turn on to take photos now the display shows "0" photos available to shoot even though I've essentially cleared all images off; and when I press the button to shoot it will not snap. I have tried the factory reset ( P setting, w/ open FC door holding playback and ok etc etc ..) and this has not helped. Help! Thanks....Sandra

Hi Sandra,

I would suggest that you format the card in the camera.
You will need to insert the card in the camera and then go into the camera's menu system and choose format.

In case formatting the card does not help, please try to use another Memory Card to isolate if this is a card issue or a camera issue.

Also, please check if the card is Write Protected.
Thee is a small sliding lock on the side of the card, you will need to have that in the unlocked position please.

If this doesn't work for you, please comment and let me know, and I will be more than happy to assist you to further resolve your issue.

Can you help me? I have an Olympus C740. I want to take a close-up of a necklace and an even closer shot of 2-3 inches of the beads (like photos you might see at eBay). Do you know what settings I...

Actually this is on page 80 of your manual. Called Macro shooting, you can come as close as 2.8".
When the mode dial is on most settings, you have to press the little button above the display with the flower several times. on the display a flower should be visible. To come close to a subject, put the zoom in wide angle.
Actually, if you read it from the manual it will be very clear and saves me about half an hour typing. The menial is still available online for free.

My olympus e volt 500 will not display image when in shoot mode

There is a little button on the back, marked 'info'. Press it to switch from picture view to settings view. It also operates the viewfinder.

Olympus also has a good photo editing program that is free and it allows you to edit photos and stitch pictures taken pn panoramic mode into one panoramic picture. It's called Olympus Master.

How do i remove the time and date at bottom right corner of picture.

Manual can be downloaded free from here ....

Basically the date stamp can be turned on / off as an option on the RECORD menu. Page 33 of the manual explains it (with pictures).

Note that if the option is turned on, it states that the date / time is permanently embedded in the picture.

Hope this helps

How to remove write protect from olympus xd card

You don't state whether you've tried using the tiny switch located on the xD card to unlock it.

If it is already in the unlocked position then push it fully to the locked position and then fully back again.

If this does not work then please report back for additional options.

LCD Screen Black/Blank. ? ? ?

Perhaps you have quick view turned off in the setup menus. There's no way the CCD is the problem as the camera takes pictures.

Can't take pictures with my camera

If it's showing an "E", then the film is not uptaking properly, even though it may be advancing. Try reloading the film, or, if for example you're shooting Fuji film, try switching to Kodak, or another brand. Mine will show an "E" for Fuji alomost consistently, but not with Kodak.

You are shooting with the exposure bias set too far on the plus side, not familiar with the 550, do You have the user manual? If You look at exif data of posted photos, You will see that many are taken at settings below the midpoint. If You don't have a manual, go to the Olympus website, many manuals are available for download. You may also find the function in the menu based on sunny, cloudy, etc, this is important to set right
