I have a 60in Phillips model # 60VB2K3RG turned it on and picture was fine about 1 minute later the picture showed green and red shadows imposible to read words on the screen restored factory convergence (also tried to adjust the multipoint convergence but that didn't do anything) and that helped for about 30 seconds also shutting it off for an hour or so helped but right back to terrible picture comes right back, it is unwatchable right now any ideas?

I fixed this tonight -- it was the convergence amps, which I purchased for $20. Thought it was the convergence board at first but it turned out to be the amps, which commonly fail after 3 years or so.

SOURCE: maganvox TV with red-shadow to picture

Hi Emily,

Your TV has bad convergence amplifiers. They are large integrated circuits that are mounted on large metal heat sinks. They have a part number on them, but might be covered up by a bracket. The part number should start with STK. They are replaced as pairs. You will have to find someone with the skills necessary to replace them.

Best Regards,

The green CRT coolant has congealed thats whats giving you the green halos. Change the coolant in the green and blue and your set will be fine. red is never affected so the red coolant should be fine.

Check settings first to make sure no one changed anything out of the ordinary. Are the shadows that of a color or darkened shadow? It could be out of convergence, which can be corrected in the menu - or it could be low quality video cables to. Also, if there is no green, does a white color show up when you're in a menu mode (Red+Blue+Green = White Image)? If so, then the green picture tube is working and it's just a color adjustment, otherwise you may have to invest in a new green picture tube.

Phillips hdtv 60in.rear projection tv started having the colors seperate and it looks like two pictures at once.seems that the red is trying to break away.

replace the convergence ICs. Easy repair if you can solder. If you need more info post the model number of your set.
