I’ve decided to stop using cordless phones (don't ask why) and have plugged
in a variety of vintage (meaning 80’s) push button telephones. I get a dial tone and answering/talking
works fine. The problem is that I hear
no tone when I push the buttons: hence I cannot dial out. (Cordless phones work fine.)
Is this a problem on my end? or one with my provider (AT&T)?
After making a call, before the call ended, all of the buttons on the phone quit working - the phone still rings, and can be answered, but hold, release, etc. are unresponsive.
Any standard phone should work, even phones made in 1800's should still work on a standard phone line.
I'm not sure what phone you have. The one listed in the question "M7310" is a business system phone and will ONLY work on the Nortel business phone system.
If you have standard home phones, my only suggestion (using the information supplied) is to check if the Tone/Pulse switch is set to tone... even though both should work.
Do you have phone service through a cable line?
