My laptop suddenly stopped functioning....it goes to process XP & then reboots by going onto screen giving option of normal windows, safe mode, last config mode, etc...nothing works...everytime it starts to go to XP, it crashes. I have a pic folder on my desktop & trying to recover that before re-formatting but can't see my C-drive in the Rescue & Recovery (Rescue files) option. Pls advise how to recover my pic folder & then how to re-format. My laptop is 3000-C100 series.

You would have to disassemble the screen in order to clean it. There are layers in the front of the screen, what you see is where the liquid got in between the layers. Screens can be taken apart, but it's not recommended.

Hi

Have you tried the windows update service

start
programes
windows update
check for updates

if this does not offer you the update once you have done ALL the updates available

then go to www.lenove.com go to support/downloads and search for the driver

Welcome to Fixya

Looks like the Windows OS is already messed up. You should be able to boot the computer to safe mode to troubleshoot the issue. In your case, it is not booting up to safe mode then the only way to use your computer again is to restore it from the factory default state. If you want to do that, just turn off the computer then press the ONE KEY button located beside the power button then follow the on screen instructions.

Thank you for using Fixya!

Black screen.

To get into the Windows XP Safe mode, as the computer is booting press and hold your "F8 Key" which should bring up the "Windows Advanced Options Menu" as shown below. Use your arrow keys to move to " Last Known Good Configuration (your most recent settings that worked)" and press your Enter key. This should load windows and operate normally. If it doesn't then reboot & press F8 again then select "safe mode". In safe mode, Windows XP starts a minimal set of drivers that the operating system needs to function. Support for devices such as audio devices and most USB devices are disabled to reduce the variables that you need to account for when diagnosing the cause of startup problems, Stop messages, or system instability. If recently installed hardware or software prevents you from starting Windows XP in normal mode, you can use safe mode to uninstall software, or to remove or roll back device drivers. Let us know how you get on - Good Luck!

Hello I wonder if you can help. When we switch

Had a similar problem like this several times. Try choosing safe mode. Safe mode will load the required drivers. After safe mode finishes the loading process, restart your computer and choose to start windows normally. The problem you mention usually happens when the computer is turned off without using normal shut down procedures. Also happens when you have a sudden power outage.

I was hopeing somebody could help, this morning i went onto the laptop and then restarted the laptop, when i restarted the laptop the laptop kept on rebooting its self. i first comes up with compaq logo,...

Try to start in safe mode, then change the start up options so that the computer does not reboot on error. Then you can see what the BSOD (stop error) message is and troubleshoot from there.

Toshiba satellite laptop comes on and stays at windows xp page

If Safe Mode doesnt work then you may have to do a "repair" of your O/S. Place your Windows XP CD into the CD-Rom drive, reboot and once you see the options if you want to Install or Repair - choose Repair. This option will make repair to your O/S and for safe mode.
Once repair is complete do a complete Anti-Virus and Spyware scan of your Hard Drive. If you can boot into Safe Mode to run the ani-virus much better.

This generally is the indication that the hard drive has failed and needs replaced. You can try reloading the system, but 99% of the time when I see this the hard drive is shot.
