Hi,
If its Sony WM-FX290 then check Hold slide switch, it is located next to Headphone jack, turn it Off to playback tape or listen radio sound.
Let me know if unit model is other than WM-FX290 to provide you helpful info.
Click Sony Support link to download WM-FX290 user manual free copy, if required.
Thanks.

I have lost my instruction manual so now i do not know what buttons to press in what order to save my tuned stations

grahamkinger,
Great model, I had one in the 80's!

I attached a link below to the user manual.

1) Tune to the desired station to be stored.
2) Press and hold the enter/clock button.
3) While holding the enter/clock button, press the preset of your choice.

I don't have a mannual I want to reset the 10 preset memory station

You can follow this procedure in doing that, when you are on a station you want to set,. press and hold the enter button while pressing the + or - until you are on the preset # you want, then holding that button until you hear a beep. Repeat for the rest of the presets

I believe I need to replace the internal battery for my sony walkman srfm37v as I've had it for a long time and even if I install a brand new triple A, the hold key won't go off (even by sliding the switch...

There is no internal battery on the Sony SRV-M37V. Presets are held in non-volatile RAM and don't need power to maintain the settings.

Your problem is that the hold switch is not disengaging. Either the contact below the switch has gotten gummed up and won't release, or perhaps the switch is broken.

You can try spraying a tiny (very tiny) amount of Contact Cleaner (available at Radio Shack for less than $5) into the switch. Or disassemble the unit to see why the switch isn't making contact like it should. Hope that helps!

No more TV on Sony TV/weather/fm/am walkman srf-m37v.

There's nothing you can do. With the switch to digital broadcasting, the sound isn't on the same frequencies it used to be so this radio can't pick it up. Right now, nobody's offering a digital receiver for the sound. All your radio is good for now is the regular radio and weather broadcasts.

The radio won't get TV sound anymore after the switch. And no, nobody is selling a digital receiver for the TV sound yet. All this radio is good for now is regular broadcasting and the weather band.

I can't preset radio stations

this is how i preset my stations, im not sure if you have done this before.
fm can save 20 stations and am can save 12

1] chose your desired station
2] press & hold the play/memory button until P01 pops up and flashes
3] to save the station, press & hold the play/memory button

if you'd like to save another station, then repeat steps 1 & 2,
then press the play/memory button again until P02 pops up,
repeat step 3.
to listen to your preset station, all you have to do is press the play/memory button.

hope this helps
