I don't have a remote and when I turn it on it only goes to standby how do I turn it on so I can program my direct tv remote?

    I just bought it, it worked when I bought it. I brought home and did just what you said and the screen is black. How do I tell if it is on TV mode?

    Does the TV work?When you plug the TV in,you should have the red light lit on the front of it.When you press the power button the red light should go out,and the TV should turn on with either a picture if you are in the TV mode,and have the cable hooked up(snowy screen if you don't have the cable hooked up),or a blue screen if you are in the video mode.Thank You very much!

    How long did it work?Just when the person was showing it to you when you went to buy it?Do you have any sound?Does the screen light up when you first turn the TV on?If you press the input button when the TV is on,it should show on the screen what mode you are in.Thank You very much!

Every TV set are going to standby if you shut it down and it is ready to start again (inside power work on minimum for starting electronic). It don't need some additive power management kit to work. But I would like to have some protection on power line cable for storm solutions.

Try to turn it on with a remote if one is available. If you don't have the original remote you can look up the universal code for the cable or satellite remote. Also try to turn it on with the input source(vcr,video game, cable box,etc...) on first. I have the same TV and if it has no signal prior to manual power up it will go to standby mode.

How do i program tv aND DIRECT TV BOX FROM SCRATCH?
You need to turn on your television set.
  • On your DirecTV remote, press the "TV" button once.
  • Now, press and hold the "Setup" button until the "TV" light goes off.
  • Enter "991" on your remote control, using the numeric keypad. The "TV" light on the remote should blink twice.
  • Aim your remote at the television and slowly alternate between pressing "TV and "Power" on your remote, until the television set turns off. Once it turns off, press "Setup" on your remote control to lock in the code.
  • To search for codes for other devices and program them into your remote, repeat Steps 1 to 5, but use the appropriate key for your device instead of "TV."

    Sky remote
    hi turn your tv on then if you get your remote point it at the tv then press tv on the remote then press the red button aswell as the select button together waite till the led on the remote blinks twice then press tv again on the remote then press the off button on the remote keep pressing tv then off pausing a second or 2 till the tv goe's into standby, once the tv goe's into standby press the select button till the led on the remote blinks twice then your remote should be programed into your tv. hope this helps.

    Child lock will not allow my tv to turn on
    i was programming my television by hand because i do not have a remote to my television and i accidentally set the child lock and now my tv will not turn on what can i do to fix my tvtv is on standby, standby light is on. can turn tv on with programable remote after pressing on button several times to set code on remote. press any function button and screen says child lock is on. can't get anywhere pressing any buttons, turn tv off with on/off button and tv goes back to stand by. don't have magnavox remote any ideas?

    I NEED THE CODE FOR ALBA TV MODEL NO. ALCD15TV8M
    There are two code types for sky remotes, Brand Codes & Direct Codes.

    The codes for Alba are:

    Brand - 0043

    Direct - 037, 065, 246, 399, 263, 064, 446

    There is a small difference in the way they are set.

    To program using the 3 digit code - Direct Code
    1) Switch on the TV set
    2) Press the TV button on the Sky Remote
    3) Hold down the select and red buttons for 2-3 seconds until the LED blinks twice
    4) Enter the 3 digit code
    5) Press the select button to store
    Press TV and any number to test, If this does not operate the TV set try below.

    To program using the 4 digit code - Brand Code
    1) Switch on the TV set
    2) Press the TV button on the Sky Remote
    3) Hold down the select and red buttons for 2-3 seconds until the LED blinks twice
    4) Press the TV button on the Sky Remote again
    5) Enter the 4 digit code for your make of TV
    6) The LED should blink twice, if not recheck the 4 digit code used and go back to 1
    7) Press the standby button on the Sky Remote (The TV should go to standby)
    8) Press select to store this setting
    If the TV does not go into standby press the TV button then the standby button, then TV then standby, keep repeating this until successful. This will scan the codes used for a particular make of TV.
