Did you solve the problem with the black marks on your clothing? I am having the same problem and also had to clean out the tray for around the softener container. After cleaning the black stuff out of the tray and running a "clean" cycle, I'm still getting black marks...look like grease...on the clothing.

I have had this problem with my front load washer and have been able to solve it by cleaning the buildup off of the lower part of the glass window on the door.

The problem is the bearing seal on the drum has failed and now the water is pickning up the grreas that is being spun out of the bearing. I know because mine is now apart on the garage floor. Bythe way the arms holding the drum will break apart and the parts are not available seperately. I hate this thing.
Same problem here - black marks on clothes and noisier spin cycle. Sears repair guy gives us a $600 estimate to replace tub bearing. I've had cheap used washers last longer than this pile of junk. Very disappointed in Kenmore/Frigidaire. Anybody have advice on good washer to buy?
I am finding gray/black lines/streaks on my clothes - it shows up especially on white clothes.
I am havin gthe same issue black marks , not able to get them out of the cloths and now have ruined hundreds of dollars of clothing , what the heck is the issue , I cant find any black grease or oil on the drum , removed the back and cleaned the drain line , very black water removed but dont think that is the issue that was probaly the mildew or smell that ihave been experiencing also
No matter what detergent I use, clothes frequently come out with spots that weren't there when I put them in.
I've cleaned the drum, dispensers, and the rubber gasket. I've also tried extra rinses, HE. They're not coming from the dryer because I haven't used it all summer.
black marks on white clothes only.......some blobs, but mostly lines, curved lines.........kenmore stacking washer and gas dryer
Check the seals, if your water heater is set too high, you can melt the rubber seals.
