Problems with log in to Yahoo Messenger

Hello. You can probably fix this condition by following these steps:

  1. Click on the gear icon in the upper-right of the IE window
  2. Click on Internet Options
  3. Click on the Advanced tab
  4. In the Settings window, scroll all the way down to "Use TLS 1.0" and make sure that is checked.
  5. Click Apply, then OK.
That should fix it for you. This is due to a recent change in how Yahoo handles login requests.

I hope this is helpful.

Start your troubleshooting with a clean browser
Download 'ccleaner' and use it daily. Run it through a couple of times, using the factory settings and the 'Run Cleaner' control until 0 bytes are seen to be cleaned following a scan
Run the 'Registry' from the left hand toolbar but 'Save' any changes after opting to 'repair' errors.Never make changes to your Registry without saving the information.

On the sign-in page click Messenger > Connection Preferences - make sure there is nothing untoward in the lower 2 boxes - if incorrect make changes using the drop-box options > OK

Copy this Yahoo secure site URL
https://www.yahoo.com/
Open Yahoo Messenger > Tools > Internet Options > Connection tab > LAN settings > Uncheck everything then check 'Automatically detect settings' and 'Use a proxy server' > Advanced > Paste the address in the secure box and type 5050 in the port box > OK
Sign in.

Hope this helps.
