Wont start but xp logo appears then no more - Computers & Internet

Restoring Windows XP operating system can be performed in DOS mode if XP's system restore tool cannot be accessed because of booting issues or when the XP recovery CDs are unavailable. There are two steps to this procedure: first, the XP system restore tool must be accessed using the DOS menu and second, the actual XP system restore is performed.

Start the computer and press the F8 key when the manufacturer's logo appears but before the Windows XP logo appears. Scroll through the menu options using the down arrow key. Select "Safe mode with a Command prompt" and hit the Enter key. Type in the administrator ID and password. Hit "Enter." Type in this code in the command prompt box to access the XP system restore tool: %systemroot%\system32\restore\rstrui.exe. Hit "Enter." Did you try to boot in safe mode? if not, boot your PC, and press f8 after the logo of your unit appears but before the windows xp bootscreen..then comment you can boot

When the ACER LOGO appears press the F8 key and start in the SAFE MODE
It may work that way
If not the hard drive is at fault

Try downloading the latest BIOS update and audio driver for you motherboard!

restart while booting(befor WIN XP appear) press F8 and get in to save mode or Command Promp mode, then type >> chkdsk -f, wait until done and restart. if still, I think you have problem with System or Harddrive, re-install it will be help.

I would suggest you to try doing a BIOS default settings

Immediately after you start the computer start hitting F2( or Delete key in some systems), It will take you to BIOS. Just load the default settings for BIOS save settings and exit.

This should resolve your issue

Assuming this is Windows XP. Press F8 before the Windows XP logo appears during boot. Try either "Safe Mode" or "Last Known Good Configuration". Safe Mode will bypass loading certain parts of Windows, while the other will fall back to the configuration from the last successful boot.

If you are not using Windows XP, please clarify.

Try holding down the "F-8" key when the emachines logo appears, see if you get a prompt for "safe mode". If you can get the system up and running in safe mode, shut it back down from the start menu. That should rewrite the boot sector and may clear the problem.

you might have loose connection on your hard disk.

I have XP, the Oregon Scientific DS6618 works great. When the box appears about the compatability test, just click "continue anyways". That message doesnt mean it wont work. Just that Microsoft hasnt gotten around to testing it themselves.
