FIFA 11 game wont start (PS3) gives me error code 80010514. All other games work fine. Game works fine in brothers PS3. Never had this problem before. PS3 support says they have had a lot of calls with this problem and they are trying to sort it out with EA but they both seemed clueless when I spoke with them. Wonering if anyone can help?

The PlayStation Network is down at the moment. This started 2 day ago. Sony Entertainment is working on this. The code is from Sony and nothing to do with you system. No update yet from SONY when the problem will be fixed but they're doing their best to fix this ASAP.

Basically, what is occuring is the corruption of game disc recognition and execution. If you will notice, in 90% of all cases, the drive will still play DVD and even Blu Ray movies with no problems. When trying to start a game however, the title, sooner or later, will receive the error.

There are certain games that may be classified as some sort of special edition games. These games which you have listed above can be said to fall into this category.
Majority of these games are made specially and specifically for some systems or console.
The only sure way to be sure if your disc is damaged or not is to try playing it on another console and see if it gives the same error.
If it does give the same error, you can be sure that the disc is really spoiled and the only thing to do is to try to fix it or get a new one.
On the other hand, if it doesn't show this error, you could check to make sure that is possesses the same region code as the region code of the disc that your console is designed to work with.
This is a sure way to know if your disc is bad or isn't just compatible.
Although, it is most likely that the problem is coming from the disc and not your console as other discs work

keep the system in a cool place PS3s are famous for overheating in short amounts of time and frezzing another option is to format and do a system restore but you may lose saved game data so be careful

Hi, if your PS3 is reading DVD's and CD's, but NOT any type of BLUE-RAY media.....95% sure it's a faulty laser. The Backwards compatible units are equipped with a RED laser for DVD and CD reading. The Blue Ray Diodes are faulty..especially in the earlier production models. This was due to the shortage of parts during production, so SONY out sourced from multiple producers of BR laser units.

My 80gb , 4 usb, Backwards combatibility unit started doing this. The game froze, system became unresponsive, wouldn't show the the Disc ICON in the XMB for PS3 games. When the games did load they would play for a few mins then freeze, or error code 80010514 would appear.

I got the laser replaced by a reputable repairman, now the system works without fault. It's been running for hours with no problems.

Get the lens replaced by either SONY or someone who knows what they are doing....also give your PS3 a good dusting everyday. When the Laser unit gets too hot the diodes malfunction and eventually fail.

i got something simular to that i got killzone2,medal of honor airborne,and brothers in arms h**** highway and they all got stuck while they where installing to my game system.all of my other games worked just fine why wont any of my new games work?

go under settings then system settings then restore default settings

You need to call Sony Customer Support, ask to mail in the PS3 for a Check Up Fix. They will send you a box with a form in it. Fill out the form, put it in the box, and put the PS3 with the Cables inside of the box. Within a week, they will send you a PS3 All set back. Make Sure you take out GTA4 and FiFa 08 Out of your PS3 when you mail it. Hope this helped.
