Try inserting the bobbin in the reverse direction. Most machines take a bobbin clockwise or counterclockwise and it can make a difference. Also try a new needle, a bad needle is often the problem believe it or not.

SOURCE: Singer Sewing Machine model 9224. Bobbin thread

If you turn the handwheel, can you see a metal ring rotating around the outer edge of the bobbin case? If not rotating, broken gear or timing belt off.
If that ring is turning, remove the needle plate and bobbin case. As this ring now rotates, you will a finger on the ring that will pass behind the needle from right to left and it should catch the thread from the eye of the needle. If this finger, the "hook" passes above the eye, you have a timing problem.

Let me know.

If you broke a needle and cannot get it to pick up the thread from the bobbin you need to check your timing. Remove the needle plate and turn the machine over watching the needle, when it is at the bottom of its travel the hook on the shuttle should be right next to or a fraction from the needle. So that as the needle begins to move upward the hook should pass it if it passes to soon it will miss the loop of thread. Check to make sure your needle is installed all the way up in the bar. If your machine is out of time and you are fairly handy, you can retime it. There should be 2 set screws some where behind the shuttle. Loosen them, one loose and one only as loose as need be to turn the shuttle. The needle must have moved upward about 1/16 before the hook is in place to catch the loop. This can be time comsuming, and you will have trial and error. Good luck. P.S. always check for simple stuff before you go for the hard stuff.

I have a Singer model 600e. the bobbin case will not come out for some reason. How do I remove the bobbin case to realign the case?

If your Singer model 600e's bobbin case is stuck, try the following steps to remove it:
  1. Turn off the sewing machine and unplug it from the power source.
  2. Raise the presser foot and the needle to the highest position.
  3. Open the bobbin cover and remove the bobbin from the bobbin case.
  4. Locate the lever or button that releases the bobbin case from the hook race. Depending on the model of your Singer sewing machine, this may be a lever, a button, or a latch.
  5. Use your finger or a small screwdriver to press or move the lever, button, or latch to release the bobbin case from the hook race.
  6. Gently pull the bobbin case out of the machine.
If the bobbin case is still stuck, do not force it. Instead, seek assistance from a trained sewing machine technician or contact Singer customer support for further advice.

I HAVE AQUIRED A SINGER SEWING MACHINE MODEL #9134 AND NEED A MANUAL AS WELL AS PARTS. I WOULD APPRECIATE SOME ASSISTANCE.

A free, downloadable manual for the Singer #9134 can be found here: http://www.managemylife.com/mmh/lis_pdf/OWNM/1006499L.pdf
Sears has an excellent, easy-to-use catalog of your machine's parts for sale. You can find those parts at: http://www.searspartsdirect.com/partsdirect/part-model/Singer-Parts/Sewing-Parts/Model-9134/1232/1220000
If you find that Sears is missing a part that you need, you can look up that part in this manual, record the serial number of the part, and continue your search at another authorized Singer retailer: http://parts.singerco.com/CPpartCharts/9_99999/9134.pdf
Good luck with the refurbishment of your newly acquired Singer!
