My frigidaire dishwahser was set to run a normal wash cycle and heat dry. It never ran, the soap is still in the holder and the lock beneath the heat dry option is lit. I'm unable to cancel or select any other options. I cannot get the dishwasher to run. Do you have a solution? I have tried holding down a number of the buttons in different combonations but still can't get the light to go out or start a wash cycle. The rinse only button didn't work, I tried it both with the door closed and opened. I also tried holding the cancel button down with the door both closed and opened. I also tried holding both the rinse only only and cancel button down, with the door opened and closed. I did all of this for at least 30 secs. Do yo have a solution?

Sounds just like my Whirlpool dishwasher. If you have the documentation that came with it look through it for a "reset" method to re-calibrate the dirt sensor in the unit. If you don't have the owners manual try to "Google" an owners manual or a "technicians" manual to find a reset or a re-calibrate procedure. Mine consisted of pressing certain control buttons at the same time, after which the unit ran through a calibration cycle that took about as long as a normal wash, and it has worked great ever since.
Is the water coming on? Is water hot enough? Is washer overloaded, water jets aren't hitting the soap? Maybe try a different brand of soap tablet? Run the dishwasher in "heavy soil" mode which will use hotter water and run for longer?
Every setting extends the wash time. You only need sanatizer if your doing a lot of baby bottles. The normal cycle with the strong dishwasher detergent will kill all bacteria anyway. The dry heat extends the time even longer and uses more hydro. Just open the door when the cycle is finished and they will dry on there own.
I hope this is of some help.
close the soap door and put into diagnostics. most models you can do so by pushing heated dry-normal-heated dry-normal. let it do its test and if the soap door opens during the test cycle, most likely the soap door assembly needs to be changed.
During normal operation, the display may show:
“ad” - dryer is in an auto dry cycle.
“dn” - cycle is done in auto dry.
“PF” - a power failure to the board has occurred.
“Err” - an error has been detected.
“LOC” - control lock is activated.
“PAU” - cycle has been interrupted.
I have this same problem, plus the pre-wash soap dispenser doesn't open sometimes even though a service guy replaced that. Could he have replaced just one side and not the other? this dishwasher also has a new motor. sometimes it washes beautifully. but other times it does not. even if both dispensers opened.
It should still work pretty well but you probably can't use the high temp wash because it will take too long for the dishwasher to heat up the water enough to satisfy the high temp washer thermostat. If the thermostat's calibrated closing temperature isn't reached the dishwasher will just keep running. One thing you should do to improve washing results is to run the nearest tap (probably the kitchen sink) until the water is at it's hottest and then run the dishwasher so the first fill will be hot rather than warm.
reset the dishwasher by touching heated dry and normal let it run through that cycle then through a normal cycle got the error blink again. Reset dishwasher by touching heated dry and normal, ran the test cycle, next ran a normal cycle but turned off the heated dry. This allowed the dishwasher to run through a complete cycle did not get the error blink and confirmed that the heating element was out.
