Our JVM1490BD003 has quit heating in the microwave mode. Still works in convection oven mode. Are troubleshooting resources available?

If you're sure the Magneton is bad, it's quite easy to remove and replace.

Every oven has a different size and shape rack, which is why they have to charge so much. You could try Ebay, they go for around $25 there.

Most likely causes are a blown fuse in HV area of microwave or an open thermal protector or thermal fuse.
Less likely causes are failure of various parts in the HV area.

Due to the lethal dangers inherent in microwaves, servicing of these parts is likely best left to a professional. That said, if you are technically versed I can point you in the direction of some good resources for troubleshooting and repair.

usually if convection fails means there is problem in magnetron you hear an unusual buzzing noise, the magnetron (the component that actually generates the microwaves) or other electronic module may be broken. This is not easily fixed; contact a service technician.

The fact that the microwave and convection both do not heat indicated that the oven is in demo mode, check the user manual, otherwise it will possibly be a relay not triggering, may need a pcb replacement, check Demo mode 1st....Phil
