I have a kenmore portable diswasher model # 655.17761891
It was rinsing after the 'normal' wash cycle and it just stopped. I turned the knob to different places (wash, rinse, drain, etc) and it would not do anything. I checked to make sure it was plugged in correctly.
Since it is doing this, it will not drain.
A day later I closed door on it, and it worked (the rinse cycle where it stopped the day before) . It heated the water first, but was really slow in running.
It finished rinsing but will not drain. I tried to put it back to wash, rinse, etc and it will not do anything again.
THANKS!!
The portable dishwashers of the 70's and 80's often had one area of problem, and that was the pump getting jammed with debris and food.
To eleminate this problem, you will need to open up your dishwasher carefully, and drain all the water and gunk from your dishwashers rinse hose. I recommend taking the machine outside and use a low setting pressure hose (garden hose). With the hose off the rinse side, run the water through and see if it comes out of the pump's housing. Let it run for a few minutes.
The pump also has a switch that also goes with the run cycle. This switch thinks there is not enough water or it thinks it has done its job.
Sometimes replacing the timer helps, but first eliminate the lower hose situation first. If that doesn't help, you will need to then replace timer. If this doesn't help, most likely your pump is most likely jammed or malfunctioning.
