Tip & How-To about Cell Phones

What to do if you cannot make call on your phone.

Before you even start trouble shooting ask yourself whether your phone may be barred from the network if it is stolen or the account holder did not pay their bill....If this is not the case then ensure that your phone is powered on. Hold the power button down for a full 3 seconds. (The power button is often located on the top of your phone. Please refer to your user guide for the location of the power button for your specific phone). Confirm that your service is active. If you are unsure, contact your service provider.
Check that you have sufficient network signal strength. When you are at the start screen or in a call, the strength of the radio signal is indicated by the signal indicators on the left side of your phone's display. These indicators move up as the strength of the signal increases and down as the signal decreases. To increase your phone's signal strength, try moving your phone slightly, or move towards a window if you're calling from inside a building.
If you are still unable to place a call, please contact your service provider. If they are unable to assist you, please submit your phone so it may be inspected for repair.

if this is your phone call your provider and ask for tech support they can usually help with trouble shooting. this can also happen if your phone is locked and one of the security setting have been triggered. Keeps bad people honest and protects the owner. Call your cell company and ask for teck and they will check your information. worse case the sim car was damaged and if its a fairly new phone might still be under warrantee :O)

i had my phone stolen and need to get it back but i dont have the imei number what should i do

Here is your answer in under 5 minutes ...

If it was stolen, it is very unlikely that the thief will return it to you. If it is recovered, the agency recovering it may be able to return it to you if they can find out how to contact you. Dont count on it. In many juristictions, the phone company can not reveal the personal information of their customers ... like your phone number or your name etc. No one cares about your imei right now.

The very best thing for you to do right now is call your service provider - the phone company - and report the telephone missing and get it turned off before someone charges a small country to your account. Next, call the police department and report your phone missing so they will not trace a crime back to you inadvertently.

The phone company has all the informkation on your phone and they will know if someone is trying to use your phone in their name. Whether they will report that to you or law enforcement is part of the "great unknown".

Your data on your phone is the very least of your troubles right now ...

If you have phone insurance, contact that carrier and report your phone stolen. In my experience, my phone insurance carrier has had a replacement phone to me in less than 24 hours. If you have such coverage, your experience may be different.

Now, protect yourself, get on the phone and report your loss to the police and the phone company.

sir i have lost my brand new Motorola cell phone (wx290). i want to distroyed my imei no. my cell pone imei no 3520490408547141

Call your phone service provider immediately to report the loss and suspend service.

If live support is not immediately available, access your account on the service provider's website to see if you can suspend service yourself online. Follow up with a phone call to your service provider in any event.

Ask whether your carrier can block your phone from being used even with a new SIM card. Provide your phone's International Mobile Equipment Identifier, or IMEI number, if requested.

Request a written or emailed confirmation from your carrier that your service has been suspended and blocked.

File a police report. Provide the police case number to your service or insurance provider, if requested.
Work with Available Software

Register your phone with online services such as TrackIMEI.com or Stolen-Property.com, to track your phone's usage or circulation from anywhere in the world. Regularly check your account online for any attempted usage.

Log in to your account at your phone tracking program's website. Follow the instructions and use the tools provided to locate your phone.

Once the phone is located, follow the program's specific instructions to remotely block your mobile phone and wipe it clean of information. Some programs also enable you to make your phone sound an alarm.

I found a samsung instinct and I do have sprint but I guess the phone was reported lost. Is there a way to activate the phone?

there is not. once a phone is reported lost or stolen, that gives it a "dirty" ESN. (Electronic Serial Number) These are numbers created by the FCC to uniquely identify mobile devices. The only thing you can do is send it back to the carrier. Once a phone is reported lost/stolen they are added to a strikeout database. That phone is dead to the network/s.
