I have a IBM X41 Tablet PC. When on the power suppy the computer works good. When I unplug the power supply the computer shuts down. The battery monitor says the battery is good, the battery monitor says the "battery is in good condition" the remaining capacity: 35.42Wh, full charge 36.07Wh, Voltage 16.59, tem 29C, cycle count 212, sanyo, manufactured 2006-05-18, serial number 27, Bar-coding number 1ZA6P65J00R, FRU part number IBM-92P-1085. I removed the battery and cleaned the terminals. What could be wrong?
Thanks, Kurt
Some times a battery can pickup a dead short, and even though it shows a charge it will not work. The other possibilty is the power management chip on the mother board. This chip allows the computer to charge the battery and switch from battery to AC. (Right now I have a Thinkpad that will only run on battery, bad PM chip) Try replacing the battery first, if that doesn't work, then unfortunately the motherboard will have to be replaced.
