there will be folders like
0 1 2 3 etc
you might see a box kind of folder there before that zero folder delete that .

It worked for me ...I did not have messenger for last 6 month ... and It works today ..
I find a folder before 0 Folder ..It looked like a rectangle ..I deleted that ...and after re logging it works.

If you tried this solution:
STEP -1
go to Start Button - Run - type regsvr32 jscript.dll - then press OK
STEP-2
go to Start Button - Run - type regsvr32 vbscript.dll - then press OK
after doing so this message appear: "Regsvr32 Error 0x80004005" (usually in windows vista). And advised youo to logged in as an administrator.
======
Use this approach:
close your yahoo messenger
go to: c:\windows\system32 and look for the "cmd.exe" icon
right click the icon and click "Run as Administrator"
a command black screen will appear. Then type the following in the commend end line of:
first:::: c:\windows\system32\regsvr32 jscript.dll ,then press enter
2nd:::: c:\windows\system32\regsvr32 vbscript.dll ,then press enter
Now check your messenger. Evrything will be restored back in order.

Some virus can cause this bug in Yahoo Messenger. Check your Internet
Options, go to Security Tab, and see if there is a new item. Normal
items there are Internet, Local Intranet, Trusted sites, and Restricted
sites. If you see a new item, chances are you were hit by a virus.
To resolve this, open a registry editor (click Start, click Run. On the
Open box, type: regedit and then press Enter). Navigate to the following
key: HKEY_CURRENT_USER \ Software \ Microsoft\ Windows \ CurrentVersion
\ Internet Settings \ Zones
There should only be 5 items there, numbered 0 to 4. If you see a
different one, especially if you see items that shows up as box, try
deleting it. (Backup your registry first). If you were able to delete
that extra item, this might fix the bug, and you will be able to see the
chat messages again in yahoo messenger.

This is a very tricky solution... :) i shouted for joy when i was able to fix it. .. Anywayz, here it is...
Ask your Tech if they have given you Modfiy rights on your Drive C. or you can simply add access permission on Yahoo folder @ program files...

Dependng on your Windows version, this will work differently:
Windows XP
Go to Run -> type regsvr32 jscript.dll -> Press Enter key
Go to Run -> type regsvr32 vbscript.dll -> Press Enter key
Windows Vista or 7:
Press The Start button/orb -> In the text box, type run -> Initiate the run program -> type regsvr32 jscript.dll -> Press Enter key
Press The Start button/orb -> In the text box, type run -> Initiate the run program -> type regsvr32 vbscript.dll -> Press Enter key
I hope this solves your problem! Also, if this didn't work, reinstall your messenger client and try again.

Same problem. Had to install version 8 because when I installed the newest version on my Vista machine, I could not even see my friend list, so went to previous version. Now I can not see messages I send or those I receive. Very annoying problem.

i tried this solution and it did not work. i can see others what they type and see what i type, but no one can get messages from me beyond the first message they received. i have two other names attached to my same yahoo name account and same applies to those when i try them too. what is the problem and how do i fix it?
