Weedeater Excalibur Gas Hedge 22" Trimmer Blade Logo
Anonymous Posted on Sep 27, 2010

What is the current oil/gas mix for the excalibur 22" hedge clippers? How about the new oils like Echo an Brigg/stration that are used at 50/1. Would 50/1 be acceptable in the weed eater excalibur?

50:1 is 50:1 no matter whose 2 cycle mix you use. 50:1 is 2.6 ounces of 2cycle mix to 1 gallon (US) of gasoline. I recommend strongly to use a brand that contains fuel stabilizer. It will come in a 3.2 ounce bottle...still 50:1. The premium 2 cycle oils will be semi-synthetic or full synthetic and will claim "no smoke"

Testimonial: "Very precise and helpful info. I will use 50:1 in all my 2 cycles from here out. Thank you, very helpful."

Most modern 2 cycles use 50:1 , but keep checking any new ones you get, there are still a few that take other blends.

Oil ratio mix

This unit is designed for 40:1 however with the new better oils it can run 50:1 make sure the oil you mix is "FD" rated.
Better is to use the pre-packaged fuels they have the "FD" oils and 93 - 95 octane non-ethanol fuels.

Need to know fuel mix for mcCulloch gladiator 550 petrol hedge trimmer

I don't know the age of this machine, but more and more of the newer units are using a 50:1 mix to satisfy the newest EPA emissions regulations. I suggest using a synthetic or synthetic blend of 2 stroke oil. ....the big box stores sell the oil...Echo one of the best. I would use synthetic and mix it 40:1. Here is a fuel mix chart to show you how many ounces of oil in a gallon of gas that is. If you make a 1/2 gallon batch of fuel mix, just use half of the listed oil amount for the mix.

40:1 is 3.2 ounces of oil in a gallon of gas...or 1.6 ounces of oil in a half-gallon of gas

What oil mix ratio do i use for my huskvarna 123hd60

Husqvarna engines are made to tighter tolerances and are designed to run cooler. This is why the manufacturer recommends running a 50:1 mix. A richer mix of oil (such as 40:1) will run in the trimmer, but it will make alot of smoke, foul the spark plug, and clog the spark arrestor in a short period of time.

I recommend you stick with the 50:1 mix, and use Husqvarna, Stihl, or Echo 2 cycle mix. All three of these 2-cycle oils are a high grade oil designed to run in air cooled engines and they should not be substituted with cheaper brands

My hedge trimmer will not start... Put in new gas

It's not getting gas, due to being gummed up with old gas. Remove all of the old gas and mix up a batch of fresh gas&oil. Also get some carb cleaner. Put just a little of the gas&oil mix plus an equal part carb cleaner. Try to start it just to work the new mixture through the carb. You might use the spray start to help pull the new gas through. If it fires up on the new gas&oil&carbcleaner mix, shut it off and let it sit for an hour or two. Drain it out and try just a little gas&oiil without the carb cleaner. If all is well fill the tank. If not, repeat the whole process. If you can't clear the gum this way you may have to remove the carb to clean it. Good luck.
