When adding a new upstairs bath can I connect into stack vent or do I have to add from first floor main

Strange, I gave a long and involved answer to this question, but it isn't here! Ah, Fixya didn't like a term I used for the residue that old soap causes. The word is 'sum' with a 'c' in it.

You probably have a birds nest in the vent pipe on the roof and it is creating a vacuum.

You can also use drain opener in the bath tub. Run very hot water, and add drain cleaner. Wait 15 minutes and add a cup of very hot water and more drain opener. Leave 12 hours. Put the plug in the bath and add 6" of hot water and then pull the plug. This will flush away soap build up in the pipe especially where the bath outlet enters the soil stack. It builds up there as a lip.

Possibly high humidity is causing a buildup of condensation on the jot water line. One possible answer out of many. Need more info.

That is almost certainly what is happening. I have never needed to vent these into soil stacks, as I have never had a complaint of an odor. There's simply no reason to do it...I would dis-connect it from stack and allow to vent as it was intended. DW

Every drain needs to be vented to work properly. Usually, you can run the vents collectively to the stack ... Please check your local building code for important particulars that will affect how you do this work.

It sounds like a vent problem.
On top of each house is a vent stack.
There should be a vent stack above each toilet, and above kitchen sink.
Look for pipes sticking out of roof.
These pipes are open to the sewer line.
When you run a column of water down a drain, the vent stack lets air flow in front of and behind the column of water.
This air flow prevents the gurgling sound.
The gurgling sound is the drain water pushing air in front of it because of a clogged vent.
If you have a two story house, there are vents that run between floors to prevent the air flow from gurgling or bubbling sewer air into each drain as water column moves down pipe.

Look for bird nest over vent pipe on top of house.
Run a snake down into pipe from roof and see if the is a stoppage.
You many need to call plumber to track down each vent and the cause.
For example if there are quick-vents installed inside a wall and the quick vent is no longer working.

If you just want a half bath (sink, mirror, toilet, lighting, vent, and flooring, you can build a small one for about $6,000. Remember you will want to finish the walls, and add baseboards, and a door.I would hit the seller up for a reduction in sales price. Nobody has upstairs bedrooms without baths anymore.

Warm air rises and if the upstairs thermostat is on it will onerride to lower the temp upstairs. To have the dowstairs thermostat govern, the up stairs must be off . The whole house will balance to the controlling thermostat.

I would get a Range Expander... it sounds like you are having problems recieving a constant signal. When you do get the range expander plug the Range Expander halfway between you upstairs computers and your downstairs where your router is at. I hope this helps!!

A good heating guy should be able to balance your dampers to increase the airflow upstairs. Keep in mind heat rises. 2nd floors are the hardest to cool. You may need to add more returns to pull the heat down the the evaporator so it can be cooled. If you are lucky you may be able to adjust your blower up to a higher speed. You may have to even add some more supply airs. Check with your local building inspector. He may be able to give you a list of contractors in your area that would be good for this type of problem.
