SOURCE: Surround Not Working on TV

well for one thing .. on cable it has to be in surround sound.5.1 or 6.1 for it to true surround.your dvd and cd will be fine .. if you just want to have sound coming out of all speakers you have to adjust your sound settings but it will not be surround sound though

SOURCE: Sony surround sound hookup

In short, the answer is: Hook up all three to each other. I have a Samsung DLP HDTV, and I was trying to hook up a Sony DAV-HDX500 home-theater system and a Comcast HD set-top box, but I found that the Sony user guide is helpful only for setting up the speakers. Most of what it had to say about HDMI and getting the TV sound or cable sound to go through the speaker system was wrong (or, at least, it didn't work for me). So, here's what I did. I connected Component video cables (Y/Pb/Pr out) from the Cable box to the TV (Y/Pb/Pr in), audio cables from the Cable box (audio out) to the Sony system ("SAT/Cable" audio in), and an HDMI cable from the Sony system (HDMI out) to the TV (HDMI in). This allows me to 1) watch DVDs with surround sound through the TV's HDMI source (when the "DVD" format is selected on the Sony system), 2) watch cable with surround sound through the TV's Component source (when the "SAT/Cable" format is selected on the Sony system), and 3) watch cable WITHOUT the surround sound, as I did before I ever had the Sony system. One item of note: When watching a non-HD channel with the surrond sound on, the audio is slightly out of synch with the video; thankfully, there's no such problem on HD channels. Anyway, I hope this helps. It drove me crazy for two days straight!

SOURCE: no sound from back surround speakers

I resolved the problem by going in the dec mode (page 49 of manuel) and changing the setting to Pro Logic. That did the trick. Good Luck all.

SOURCE: Sony STR-D460Z receiver

A common cause are failures in the amplifier output stage, the drivers, and some of the support components. You will have to send the unit out for service.

SOURCE: hook up Sony Bravia Home Theater DAV-HDX277WC

Hi....I haven't hooked mine to the TV yet.....building my cabinet now....but I did hook up the components to make sure they worked and just didnt include a TV on it. My S-Air wireless linked up the first time I tried it....I will say this though, the little wireless transceivers blocks you have to plug into the DVD player and the S-Air do not go in like you would think. They actually look like they are upside down when you get them in, and the must snap in very securely. Make sure they dont just LOOK like they are plugged in. Also, dont get em to far away through too many walls, Try linking it sitting right close to the DVD. Also remember the S-Air remote has its own volume control as well as other controls....

I know I wasnt much help but I just got mine and I will be back with more after I try the surround sound on the TV.

No sound from rear speakers during test tone usng Sony STR-DE475

I had this problem last night.

To solve it, you can reset the amp by:

1) Put the receiver on stand-by
2) Hold down "MODE" button and press on button
3) "S.F. CLR" appears in the display and surround is back on.

Good luck

Speakers pop and rear speakers cut out of surround sound

Hi,
your problem is a bad solder connection of the relay linked to the lautspeaker sockets. I had the same problem and googled for the solution. Since I resoldered the pins everything is fine. That problem is well known and happens to a lot of Sony receivers.

I can send you a link with a detailed how-to-do solution with pictures, however it's written in german language. But you can use some online translators.

Here is the link: http://www.bmw-syndikat.de/bmwsyndikatforum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=28280&FORUM_ID=20&CAT_ID=9&Forum_Title=Geplaudere&Topic_Title=Problem+Sony+STR-DE445

Can't get surround sound when watching tv

your RCA on your tv is acting like its in mono..it may be a problem with the jacks.  alternatively..you can buy a splitter and split teh side that sounds stronger (L) or (R) with a male to 2 female spliter out of the tv then back into l/r input on your reciever... It wont give you surround stereo...but it will soudn a whole lot better.
