Change the aspect ratio.this can usually be done via the remote or through the tv menu.normal view for most wide screens is wide 16:9 but if you have zoom or crop black bars then you may lose parts of playback.

Deleting protected pictures

"Protecting Photographs from Deletion

In full-frame, zoom, and thumbnail playback, the button can be used to protect photographs

from accidental deletion. Protected files can not be deleted using the button or

the Delete option in the playback menu, and have DOS "read-only" status when viewed on

a Windows computer. Note that protected files will be deleted when the memory card is
formatted"

Cant change from shoot mode to playback mode.also zoom lens is not adjustable

The Fuji FinePix F470 camera is an excellent device. Most of the controls are computerised in such a way that makes picture taking and viewing less stressful. Changing from shoot mode to playback mode is by the press of the play button which looks like an arrow the zoom lens is not manually adjustable it adjusts by the press of the W and T buttons.
Here is a link to help you download the brochure, User guide and quick start guide for the camera:

Distorted picture when looking through view finder or lcd screen

the video playback is sampled off the video out and independently processed sorta like a TV signal to project on the lcd screen.
horizontal lines means you lost sync circuit and needs troubleshooting. Hopefully maybe a bad connection with a ribbon cable for the ICs and components are hard to change and jammed tight. I would order a video board.

Powershot S1 IS trouble shooting in images of lcd monitor

Try playing back pictures you know were captured properly ( either with another properly working camera or with your camera before the problem with quality has appeared ). If the image is ok in playback but 'noisy' in capture mode then the CCD sensor is faulty /on its way out. Ask Canon if they repair CCD faults on this model free of charge.

Optical / Digital Zoom

Press the "T" for telephoto and get closer to the subject. Optical telephoto zoom is like using a telescope to get closer to the subject before taking the picture. With optical Telephoto zoom you can maintain the full resolution and quality. After you have used all of the optical Telephoto range, the camera will continue to enhance the image with Digital Zoom. This enhances the image inside the camera by reducing the resolution and expanding fewer pixels to fill the same image space. Use the "W" Wide-angle button to back-up away from the subject or get a bigger area into your picture. You can even ZOOM IN on a picture in the playback mode for a better look at the details. Turn the Mode Dial to Playback, then press the "T". Use the Enter button to move around the display area. Press the middle of the ENTER KEY to see your images in thumbnail view and / or scroll through several images at one time to find a specific / special image quickly.
